The Médeville family has been in the heart of the Bordeaux region of Sauternes since the marriage of Numa, great-grandfather of Christian Médeville (Julie’s father) to Miss Marie Despujols. She brought to the Médevilles the beautiful family mansion in the centre of Preignac village (the house had been bought by one of her Despujols ancestors in 1710 from Mr Lamothe), as well as the surrounding historic vineyards of Gilette and Les Justices.
The Champagne house was founded in 2000, by Xavier Gonet and Julie Médeville. Julie is also the owner and winemaker for the historic Sauternes producer, Château Gilette. The Champagne vineyards are located in the communes located on the outskirts of Epernay, known for its chalky soils which produce wines of incredible purity.
The family owns both Grand Crus and Premiers Crus sites. The Grand Crus sites include Le Mesnil sur Oger, where Chardonnay is grown on the following lieu dits: Louvière, Champs d’Alouette, Boulangère. Pinot Noir is grown in Ambonnay, specifically on the lieu dits of Grandes Ruelles and Champs Muets. More Chardonnay is grown in Oger on the lieu dit of Tilleul. The Premier Cru sites include the town of Bisseuil, were Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are grown on the following lieu dits: Les Pentes, Pirouette, Dessulchene. The Pinot Meurier for the winery is grown on the lieu dit of La Clef in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, and additional Chardonnay was grown on the lieu dit of Fosse Toret in Trépail.
