Tasting notes: Brilliant deep ruby in colour; at the nose its flavour is dominated by elegant notes of spices, menthol, eucalyptus and sweet red fruits. Refined and velvety on the palate, it has a good persistence on the palate and an elegant nuance of minerals on the finish. The tannins, are refined, balanced and offer good length and red fruits and menthol can also be found as the wine opens up in the glass.

Recent bottles of the 2001 and 2004 Barbaresco Pajore revealed an enormous leap in elegance and finesse. Fortunately, Sottimano’s entry-level wines are every bit as delicious as their Barbarescos, so readers won’t need to mortgage the house to drink great wines from this producer.
