Barbaresco San Stunet San Stefanetto DOCG 2007

Varietal: 100% Nebbiolo
Sourced exclusively from the high altitude (400 asl) south-east facing, estate owned, San Stefanetto vineyard, now designated as the “San Stunet” cru, is 1.2 hectares. Soil is made up of calcareous rock, where vines average 25-50 years, and are planted quite densely, at 6,000 vines per hectare. Hand harvested in October. Fermentation and maceration in large wood barrels, then aged 18 months in barrel (70% large oak, 30% barrique), and a further 6 months in bottle. 400 cases produced.
Review: “The 2007 Barbaresco San Stunet S. Stefanetto is one of the richer, more muscular wines in this lineup. It shows gorgeous tension in its red fruit, minerals, crushed flowers and spices, very much in the voice of wines from Treiso. High-toned floral notes and hints of anise add lift on the finish. This shows terrific intensity and depth. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022.” (Wine Advocate)
