Barolo La Rocca e la Pira 2000

Barolo La Rocca e la Pira 2000

Varietal: Nebbiolo

Maturation: 4-6 years in medium-sized French oak casks, Then at least 2 years in bottle.

Suggested food: Great structure and elegance, this wine can be matched with red meat, stew meat, ripe cheese and pasta.

Best drinking: 2010 - 2025

Tasting notes / Review:  Garnet-red color. Rich nose with a clear aroma , tobacco, spices, and white flowers with a constantly-evolving bouquet.

"The 2000 Barolo La Rocca e La Pira reveals an extra dimension of expression in its dark cherries, plums, minerals, licorice, spices, leather and coffee beans. This big, dense and pure Barolo comes across as fresher and more vibrant than the Paje, yet it, too, can be enjoyed today with some air. It is a terrific effort from Roagna. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2025." 92 pts, Antonio Galloni, The Wine Advocate.
