Cabernet Sauvignon North Coast 2012

Varietals: 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot
, 2% Cabernet Franc

Growing Regions: Mendocino County, Sonoma County

Alcohol: 13.7%

Vineyards:

The grapes for the Silver Palm Cabernet Sauvignon come exclusively from California’s North Coast, which includes Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino counties. The region is profoundly influenced by cool coastal air and fog from the Pacific Ocean, resulting in temperate vineyard microclimates ideal for the cultivation of Bordeaux varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vintage notes:

The 2012 growing season was marked by temperate weather, early bud break and low rainfall. Mild temperatures as harvest approached allowed the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly on the vine. The early potential of the grapes came to fruition and flavor development in the 2012 vintage wines was truly exceptional.

Tasting notes:

2012 was an amazing vintage. We were blessed with a warm summer devoid of any brutal heat spikes. Cabernet was abundant and ripe flavors, soft tannins and complexity are the hallmarks of the vintage. Our Silver Palm Cabernet relies heavily on grapes grown in Mendocino County, which provides the soft, black cherry flavors to the wine. We used Sonoma County Merlot to add plushness to the palate and small amount of Cabernet Franc for spice and to round out the finish.
