Chorey-les-Beaune “Les Beaumonts” 2009

Chorey-les-Beaune “Les Beaumonts” 2009

Varietal: Pinot Noir

Alcohol: 13.0%

Soil type: Limestone and marl

Made from 20 year old vines grown on moderately flat plains of limestone and marl, with a eastern, south-eastern exposure. Matured for 10 months in French oak barriques. 2009 is a classic vintage, and although Chorey-Les-Beaunes does not have any Premier Cru or Grand Cru vineyards, the lieu dit of “Les Beaumonts” is widely regarded as the top vineyard for this appellation. A light to medium bodied wine, with red berries and wet earth on the nose. Only 250 cs produced.

Tasting note: The Chorey-les-Beaune consistently shows more earthy and evolved notes than the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune. The nose and palate are filled with vivid sour cherry and earthy notes, with fine, elegant and chalky tannins.
