Crémant d’Alsace Blanc de Blancs Brut 2015

Crémant d’Alsace Blanc de Blancs Brut 2015

Varietals: 70% Auxerrois, 30% Pinot Blanc

Alcohol: 12.5%

Annual Production: 400 cases

Tasting Notes:

The “Blanc de blancs” is made using the traditional method from 70% Auxerrois, 30% Pinot Blanc grapes, chosen for their fresh and dry characteristics. The bottle ages for a minimum of 15 months on its fine lees, which deliver the wine’s creamy and mouth-filling mid palate, and the consistency of its bubbles. The nose shows beautiful aromas of fresh green apple and the palate is dry, crisp and refreshing, making it the perfect aperitif. 400 cases produced.

Review:

The 2014 has not yet been reviewed, however the 2010 was rated 89 points by John Szabo, MS:

“A light, fragrant, delicate bubbly made from 100% pinot blanc from the excellent 2010 vintage in Alsace, 15 months en tirage, youthful and succulent, with plenty of lovely citrus and orchard fruit, modest yeasty character, but good phenolic ripeness and enough dosage to soften and round out bright acids. All in all, it’s a gentle and effortlessly enjoyable style, light and delicate, with good length, and an excellent value, not to mention a smart option, for larger holiday get togethers where the relationship between modest price and high, widely appealing quality is the order of the day. Available directly from the agent, Le Sommelier. Tasted December 2013.” - 89 pts (John Szabo, MS, WineAlign.com)
