Tasting notes: Solid translucent ruby core which fades to a consistent ruby rim.  The nose shows off sweet caramel and butterscotch along with fresh herbs of rosemary and clove.  There are interesting layers of blackberry and raspberry, as well as earthy, mineral notes.  On the palate, the wine is medium to full bodied, with fresh acidity that keeps the fruit coming back again and again.  Some earthy notes come through on the mid palate, along with firm, persistent and drying tannins and long finish.  Needs 2-4 years for tannins to mellow, at which time the fruit will be fully to the fore.  Delicious!  Needs food, especially rich meats, stews and mushroom dishes.
