Edna Ranch Pinot Noir 2001

Varietal: Pinot Noir 100%

Soil type: Alluvial clay

Maturation: 11 months in French oak (Allier, Never and Tronçais)

Alcohol: 13.8%

Total production: 395 cases

Suggested food: Veal cutlets, slow-cooked lamb, pork roast, duck confit, cedar plank salmon, rare tuna or oven-roasted turkey.

Tasting notes: Bright ruby red colour. Full bodied and complex, it has intense fruit layers of cherry, plum, berry, cedar, toast, smoke, spice, tobacco, leather, caramel and vanilla.  It finishes with a spicy, earthy quality, while the tannins fold in to give it a nice Burgundian-like, earthy aftertaste.
