Schiopetto

Friuli (Collio)

Friulano 2007

Friulano 2007

Varietal: 100% Friulano

Soil type: Predominantly marl soil from the Eocene period.  Vines planted in 1968.

Alcohol: 13.5%

Maturation: 7-8 months in steel tanks

Suggested food: Excellent as an aperitif, or served with ham, eggs or asparagus.

Tasting notes / Reviews: Straw-yellow colour, tending to lemon-yellow, with greenish reflections. On the nose, delicate, pleasant and characteristic aroma of almond, meadow flowers and a hint of pear. On the mouth, dry, delicately aromatic taste with an elegant background of bitter almond. Full-bodied and persistent.

2006 Friulano : "The 2006 Tocai Friulano is wonderfully pure in its expressive aromatics and focused fruit. This reference-point Tocai offers outstanding length as well as cut and should drink well over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2009." 90 pts, Antonio Galloni eRobertparker.com

"Perhaps the finest example of all I tasted was Schiopetto Tocai Friulano 2006 Collio which, although creamy and flattering in texture, has wonderfully explosive fruit.  About seven per cent was fermented in large oak tonneaux."  Jancis Robinson
