Grand Cru Winzenberg Pinot Gris 2006
Varietal: Pinot Gris
Tasting Notes / Review: This elegant Pinot Gris delivers the smoothness of a granitic soil with a flexible, round and mediuml-bodied flavour. The nose is filled with mineral, pear and stone fruit. On the palate, the wine envelops the mouth and caresses the palate with a touch of residual sugar and its fresh acidity and finishes dry. Although it certainly asserts itself now, this great wine will affirm its designation as a Grand Cru with age. In the Alsace, Pinot Gris is considered perfect partner to foie gras.
"Clean, ripe, richly concentrated stone fruit aromas, nectarine, apricot and ripe pear, alongside some spicy-smoky notes. Dry, round, succulent and full, with pungent minerality and chalky-talc texture on the palate, ending on vibrant acid notes. Moderate length. Nice, restrained and mineral-driven example that will likely continue to improve and grow in complexity." 88 pts, John Szabo, MS, Wine Access First In Line eReport
