Heissenberg Riesling 2006
The Heissenberg Riesling is a wonderful reminder of the hot summer days shared with friends and a bottle of wine. With hints of grapefruit and lemon rind on the nose, its palate refreshes with its crisp acidity and bursts citrus and mineral characteristics. It is elegant, light, yet persists with a clean, crisp, slightly tart finish.
Varietal: 100% Riesling
Soil Type: Sandstone and clay
Aging: 11 months in 50 hl French oak cask
Alcohol: 12.5%
Review: “Clean, slightly oxidative, distinctly old world style, rather closed at the moment. The palate shows fairly intense minerality and a lightly astringent texture, moderate alcohol and mature, candied citrus flavours. A real old school Alsatian Riesling that is likely the way wine tasted 100 years ago.” 87 pts, John Szabo, MS.
