Wines
Saint Jean du Barroux
Rhône (Côtes du Ventoux)
L’Oligocene 2004

Varietals: Grenache 75% and Syrah, Carignan and Cinsault
Soil type: Red and grey clay, stony formation and very dry
Review: “Another up-and-coming but little known estate from the Cotes du Ventoux, this could well be one of the next hot cult wines from Provence given the quality of this release. A blend of 75% Grenache and the rest Syrah, Carignan, and Cinsault, the wine has a deep ruby/purple color, a natural savory mouthfeel with terrific ripeness, soft but noticeable tannins in addition to plenty of Provencal herbs, pepper, and meaty black cherry and black currant fruit notes. The wine is a beauty, and should age nicely for 5-6 years.” 90 pts, Robert Parker, erobertparker.com
