DV7 (or Digs Vineyard Block 7) was established in 1941 and produces intense true varietal characteristics which carry through into this superb wine. Maturation in 100% water bent French oak for nearly 3 years. Viticulturist Dan Wright applies traditional and his state-of-the-art practices that consistently create fabulous foundation flavours that are ideal for this modern wine style.

Tasting notes:  A style shaped for fruit concentration more so varietal elegance. This 2005 pedigree brew is remarkably bound like a tight purple cabbage so wants and needs a fair splash of air for at least an hour or two. Aromatic dominance of spiced figs, pepper corns and cut cedar. The palate starts with a vibrant burst of dark berry fruits up front through a spiced Christmas cake middle to baked plums on the finish. Residual flavour length is truly remarkable.

Review:  “Most Valuable Player McLaren Vale Shiraz 2005 Retains good colour hue and depth; a powerful testament to the region, redolent of dark chocolate and black fruits; the palate has excellent texture, structure and length, fruit characters winning the day on the finish and aftertaste. Screw-cap. 14.5% alc. Drink 2030” Tasted Jan 10 - 96 pts James Halliday
