Maçanita Red Douro DOC 2012

Maçanita Red Douro DOC 2012

Varietals: 60% Touriga Nacional and 40% Tinta Toriz

Alcohol: 14%

Reviews:
The blend is 60% Touriga Nacional with 40% Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo). Floral with well-articulated black fruits and spice on the nose. The palate is smooth, lush and well integrated. Excellent fruit and spice with a firm tannic grip. A big, bold and powerful wine ideal for barbecue fare. Enjoy it with steak, burgers or grilled ribs. (VINTAGES panel, Aug. 2014)

“A generous, ripe, fruity and floral blend (60% Touriga nacional and 40% tinta roriz) from the Douro, well within the typical flavour wheelhouse, with added polish and pure, ripe black fruit flavours. For the money, this delivers a significant dose of flavour and well-managed, succulent, rounded texture. A cleverly made wine with wide appeal. Value Rating:**1/2”

“This is an impressive young Douro red with the requisite tension, elegance and granitic minerality of the region. I just wanted a more depth for that 90+ rating. And at $18.95 it is fair value. It shows quite lifted floral (violet), plum/blackberry fruit with oak vanilla and dustiness. Quite full bodied, rounded and smooth, and fairly dense, but lacks some extension. Best 2017 to 2022.”
