Pinot Noir Rocheaux 2008

Pinot Noir Rocheaux 2008

Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir

Tasting Notes:  Rocheux fruit comes from the rocky west-side of the vineyard - a 50/50 mix of separately fermented Pommard and Dijon 777. Flavors of cherry, red raspberry, Asian spices and lingering minerality form the core of this expressive old-world style Pinot Noir.

Reviews: “Full red. The darkest of this set on the nose, slowly opening up to display dark berry and cherry pit scents, along with notes of dried rose, licorice and smoky herbs. Rich but surprisingly lively on the palate, offering sweet dark fruit flavours and good back-end cut. A dense and gutsy Pinot that finishes with solid grip and sneaky sweetness. This one demands patience. Jacqueline Yoakum, who formerly worked at Littorai in California, made this wine.” 91 points, (Josh Raynolds, Stephen Tanzer’s, International Wine Cellar)

“The 2008 Pinot Noir Rocheux reveals a lovely perfume of cherry blossom, spice box, balsam wood, cherry, and raspberry. Made in a leaner, racier style than the preceding cuvees, it has an overall elegant personality and the balance to drink nicely for a decade or more.” 91 points, (Jay Miller, http://www.erobertparker.com, Oct. 2010)
