La Rioja Alta
Señorío de P.Peciña Tinto Reserva 2001
Varietals: 95% Tempranillo, 3% Graciano, 2% Garnacha
Soil type: Argilo-calcareous
Reviews: “Classic old school style Rioja here from an arch-tradtional estate. It’s full of dried coconut, dill weed, dried orange peel, porcini mushroom, shoe polish and on and on - idiosyncratic to be sure. The palate is lean and sinewy, with vibrant saliva-inducing acidity, light dusty tannins and lingering , savoury, umami-laden finish. Strictly for fans of traditional style Spanish reds. Tasted October 2011. Value Rating: **1/2.” 91 points (John Szabo, MS, Wine Align)
“This is in fine shape for a mature Rioja. It is surprisingly light bodied, tender and elegant. Love the balance of fruit and wood in a classic style. Spend time with the fine bouquet with all its vanilla, chestnut, vibrant cedar, currant and menthol. This is very well put together and drinking at prime. Excellent length. Best now to 2014. Tasted November 2011.” 93 points. (David Lawrason, Wine Align)
