Truant Old Vine Zinfandel 2012

Varietals: 90% Zinfandel, 7% Barbera and 3% other red varietals

Alcohol: 14.6%

The name Truant describes someone who slips away from the confines of everyday routine, and also refers to the winery’s winemaking style which is not limited by geographical confines.
Previously labelled “OVC” or Old Vine Cuvée, the Truant is a multi appellation Zinfandel blend selected from various appellations from throughout the state of California. Primary grape sources come from Lodi, Mendocino and Paso Robles. The old vine fruit gives concentration, structure and character.

Tasting note:

Dark berry and spicy notes entice the nose, while ripe plum, blackberry and a touch of blueberry flavours entertain the taste buds. Juicy and structured, this wine is balanced and has a long, velvety finish.

Review:

“A zesty little Zin, with just enough dried cherry, plum, toasty herb and spice flavors to keep this fun and interesting. Drink now through 2018. 30,000 cases made. TF” - 87 pts (Wine Spectator, Jun 30, 2014)
