Domaine Guillaume Vrignaud
Fontenay-près-Chablis, Bourgogne, France
The Vrignauds’ family, settled in the village of Fontenay-près-Chablis, have been vine growers for five generations. They began planting in 1er cru Fourchaume with the Côte de Fontenay climate in 1955. In 1975, they planted the rest of their vines around Fontenay près Chablis and also Fleys for the 1er cru Mont de Milieu. It is a quality-conscious family with an absolute belief in the importance of work in the vines, respect for nature and biodiversity.
In 1999, Guillaume Vrignaud started to bottle his first wines and decided to build a new winery. 2009 marked the start of organic certification by Ecocert. According to him, organic farming is not an end, it is a way of thinking, a way of revealing the terroir. In 2012, all Guillaume wines across their 28 hectares were organic certified and have been ever since.

White flowers, green apple, and lemongrass open this silken white, bedded with lees over a buzzy layer of river stones. This finishes snappy and bright.

Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu
The Vrignaud family, settled in the village of Fontenay-près-Chablis, have been growing vines for 5 generations. Guillaume Vrignaud started to bottle his first wines in 1999, and became certified organic in 2009. They have 28 hectares today. This comes from 40 year old vines in the 1er Cru Mont de Milieu, situated south of the Right Bank's acclaimed Grand Cru Chablis. Historically, this hill used to have a boundary running through its middle, separating the county of Champagne and the duchy of Burgundy. This wine was native fermented in stainless, where it remained on lees for one year, sans bâtonnage. Ripe lemon, tangerine, crunchy pear, green apple skims along this taut 1er cru, with a buzzy Kimmeridgian underlay taking this through a saline finish. Lovely energy, this is drinking beauty and with time ahead.

The Vrignaud family, settled in the village of Fontenay-près-Chablis, have been growing vines for 5 generations. Guillaume Vrignaud started to bottle his first wines in 1999, and became certified organic in 2009. They have 28 hectares today. This comes from the cool, north facing Côtes de Fontenay climat, at the entrance of the valley, in Vrignaud's four hectare vineyard in the 1er Cru Fourchaume. The vines were planted in 1955 in brown clay and Kimmeridgian soils. After a native ferment in stainless, this remained there for one year on lees, without bâtonnage. There's a beauty kimmeridgian underlay to this structural wine, with taut lemon, green apple, crushed stones, streaming long across the palate, finishing with lingering salinity. Beauty now and with time ahead.

Very generous and open, with a mouth filling, creamy palate of pear, perfumed mango, yellow apple, lemon verbena, and white/pink florals.
