Dialogo Branco Diálogo
Niepoort Vinhos
Diálogo Branco
This youthful white may show a Canadian-themed comic on the label, but make no mistake, this is a serious wine, from one of the world's top winemakers, Dirk Niepoort. From schistous, mica-flecked vineyards on the right bank of the Douro, between 550-700m, this blend of indigenous Portuguese white grapes is native fermented in a split between stainless and older French barriques (30 percent), with no MLF, and remains there for eight months. The blend is 20-50 year old rabigato, códega do larinho, gouveio, dona branca, viosinho, bical and others. This year's edition is quite reductive at present, with an earthy, leesy, stony underlay bedding green apple, lemon, green fig, finishing with a lingering salinity.

Domaine Duseigneur Cotes Rhone Rhône Côtes
Domaine Duseigneur
La Goutte du Seigneur Côtes du Rhône
The name of this organic and biodynamically farmed cuvée refers to their family name, translating as "Drop of the Lord". La Goutte du Seigneur is an easy drinking blend of Grenache and Syrah, from 30 year old, vines rooted in the estate’s clay limestone soils. This underwent 2 weeks of maceration in concrete tank before a native ferment, and saw no time in oak. Tight blackcurrant, red currant, red cherry is gripped with a graphite minerality, and fine, lightly sticky tannins. Acidity is bright, easily freshening its 14%. Drinking smartly now. Great value.

Rose
Domaine Montrose
Mont Rose Rosé
This elegant, pale rosé is a blend of Grenache and Cinsault from Languedoc's calcareous clay, volcanic gravels. Dry and crisp, with hints of summer berry, florals, and Mediterranean citrus, this vibrant rosé finishes with a rasp of tannins, making it particularly food-friendly.
“From a historically significant estate just outside of Pézenas that has been producing wine as far back as the 16th century, this bright and salty blend of grenache and cinsault sourced from calcareous clay and volcanic gravels is delicately perfumed with notes of fresh blossom, pink grapefruit. On the palate sea salt, lavender and wild thyme are reminiscent of the French Mediterranean coast. Vibrant, cleanly made, and well-priced. Punches above its designation. Tasted April 2024.” - 90 points, Sara d’Amato, WineAlign.com
“Arch-classic Languedoc style of Rosé representative of the last two decades. Pale and calming for a chill on hot pool, pond and sea days. That said the levels of unction and even creaminess are creeping up, noted here with Coste’s neither immune nor in avoidance of the sliding and changing scale. You gotta stick with this a bit to notice and appreciate the new modifications rising to establish such a nuanced Rosé. A good thing and more for now available for everyone to get involved. Drink 2024-2026. Tasted April 2024.” - 90 points, Michael Godel, WineAlign.com

Cremant du Jura Blanc Brut Crémant
Domaine Rolet
Crémant du Jura Blanc Brut
During his presidency of the Société de viticulture du Jura, Pierre Rolet was instrumental in the creation of the AOC Crémant du Jura in 1995. This traditional method sparkling wine was previously simply referred to as a mousseux. This traditional method sparkling is a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 10% Savagnin, with equal parts Trousseau, Poulsard, and Pinot Noir filling out the rest, coming off estate vineyards in Arbois, Passenas, and Le Vernnois. The wine was whole cluster pressed and fermented at low temperature (18°C) in stainless, with no MLF, and spent a minimum of 1 year on lees in bottle prior to disgorge. Dosage 6g/L. The creamy palate is shaped by tight green apple, crunchy pear, ripe red apple, and light meringue, finishing with a lemon peel twist and a lingering chalkiness, thanks to the region's marl soils.

FitaPreta Vinhos
Branco
This blend of Roupeiro, Rabo de Ovelha, Antão Vaz, Tamarez, Alicante Branco, and Arinto are sourced from 2 organic vineyards in Alentejo's granitic and limestone soils, and vines from 30-50 years, up to 400m in altitude. After a whole bunch press and a native ferment in primarily stainless barrels (the second pressing goes into older barrels), this remained there on lees for six months before bottling. Pine nuts, quince, and green fig ride along a honeysuckle-slicked palate, seasoned amply with buzzy granite grip. Lovely balance and flow here.

Arbois Trousseau
Trousseau vines (30 years old) were planted in Montigny-les-Arsures, on hillsides on the localities of Chagnon and L'Euvrin, as well as Arbois' Montesserin. The marl and clay soils are ideal for the trousseau, as proven by this charming wine. After destemming and a few days of maceration, it was fermented in stainless for three weeks and then aged for 9 months in a split of stainless and foudre. Pouring a light, dusky crimson hue, this streams wild raspberry, perfumed cherry, forest wild flowers, and a finely buzzy texture, all wrapped with slightly tuggy tannins. This current release means the winery has done all the aging for you. Drink now, ideally with wild mushroom dishes.
“Classic Jura by cause of its oxidative and rustic stylistic with the local Trousseau and ambience getting together for what’s expected and necessary. This is red wine for those who know and want what this is want to give. Rosy red fruit, musky and gentle, very resolved and ready to please. This is the kind of wine for those who like to sit back and dream, not thinking too much, just sipping and letting imagination create the diversion. Drink 2023-2025. Tasted November 2023.” - 90 points, Michael Godel, WineAlign.com

Podere 414
Podere 414
Morellino di Scansano
Owned by Simone Castelli, Podere 414 is a certified organic estate with 13 hectares of vines, situated in western Tuscany, straddling a river near Scansano. From the region's very stony soils, this morellino (sangiovese) is splashed with colorino, ciliegiolo, alicante, and syrah. Each variety is vinified separately before the blend goes into two-year-old barriques for one year, followed by additional bottle age before release. Wild flowers and scrubby herbs infuse a dusky palate of black cherry, blackberry, inky violet and crushed stones. Acidity is bright and lofty, and tannins are ample but softened with some time, providing a firm hug to this full bodied wine. The finish lingers with medicinal cherry rung with ample salinity.
“Pronounced aromas of black cherry and wild berries with an edge of earthiness. Full on the palate with linear tannins, crisp acidity and a juicy finish. 414 is the house number attributed to the property by the former land reform authority in the 1960s. Nowadays, owner Simone Castelli is one of the rising stars in the Maremma due to his Morellino, cultivated according to organic principles. A blend of 85% Sangiovese with a mix of Ciliegiolo, Colorino, Alicante and Syrah, fermented in concrete vats and aged in mixed wood for 12 months.” 92 points, Filippo Magnani, Decanter

Grüner Veltliner NATURAL
NATURAL is Fritz Wieninger's experimental range of wines, still biodynamic, as is his family's Weingut Wieninger. This is the only NATURAL wine done in stainless, and here it spends 3.5 months on skins prior to bottling without fining, filtration, or sulphur. This Grüner Veltliner comes from an old vineyard in Ried Gabrissen on Vienna's Bisamberg, a sunny south-facing location on loess, with high lime content and a prominent gravel band in the higher part of the vineyard. Bright and tight with lime, white grapefruit, tangerine along a taut, buzzy, and saline laced palate. Shining acidity keeps this lofted through a long finish. Very pure.

Azores Wine Co. Rose Vulcanico Rosé
Azores Wine Co.
Rosé Vulcânico
This grows on the island of Pico, in the Azores archipelago, off Portugal, and its pure volcanic, black basaltic, scrabbly rocky soils. This blends 5-30+ year old Saborinho, Agronomica, Aragones, Touriga Nacional and many other co-planted varieties across 13 vineyards, sustainably grown in wee plots (2 to 6 bush trained vines per square), planted in 1991 at sea level. This is a partial saignée from António Maçanita's Tinto Vulcanico, along with partial whole bunch, and including some cofermentation. Stainless steel preserves the crisp fruit, and no maceration created the pale peach hue. The 600-1000L stainless barrels were lain on their sides to give more lees / wine contact and texture on the palate. Bright and juicy, with wild strawberries, Rainier cherries, pink grapefruit on a marine-led, saline-dominant, light bodied palate, finishing with more quenching grapefruit pith. There's a riffing texture that draws this to the salty finish. Smashable, characterful, and moreish.

Chinon Blanc
Only 2% of Chinon is planted to white, so when you find a Chinon Blanc, you know you're in for a special chenin blanc experience. This organically farmed chenin comes mostly from Ligre's chalky, limestone clay soils, and was native cool fermented in stainless, to preserve the bright, fresh, very special character of chenin on limestone. Bright and shining, with lemon, verbena, and quince blossom running a sleek palate, with a subtle, alluring chenin waxiness that takes this to a saline finish. Vibrant acidity keeps this lively now, and ensures some great years ahead.

Chinon Rouge Les Picasses
Jean-Maurice Raffault and Rodolphe Raffault’s family began cultivating vines in Chinon 14 generations ago, when their ancestor, Mathurin Bottreau, bought his first parcel of vines in 1693. Today, Domaine Jean-Maurice Raffault owns 50 organically farmed hectares of vines in 7 communes. This cabernet franc is from the Les Picasses lieu dit, atop a plateau overlooking the Vienne, the windiness of the site reflected in the windmill on the label. Soils here are stony limestone and clay. After destemming and a native ferment this moves to barriques for MLF and aging 12 months on fine lees. Super perfumed, with ample fragrant plums, wild blackberry, thorns, and crushed florals on a medium palate, gripped with ample firm, gritty tannins, and finishing with a lingering peppery note. Smarazen
Mirco Mariotti makes natural wines in the Bosco Eliceo area in the eastern part of Emilia-Romagna. The vines grow 300 meters from the Adriatic sea and many are well over 100 years old. They are gnarly non-grafted vines with roots that dig as deep as two meters in the sandy soil and into the aquifer below. Mariotti’s wines are named after local card games the locals play. This pét-nat of 70% trebbiano and 30% malvasia di candia is from 50-100 year old vines. Lightly fizzy, with white melon, tart tangerine, white pepper on a brisk, lightly astringent palate. When We Dance Chianti
Tuscany's Tenuta Il Palagio has been a vine growing and wine making estate since the 16th century. For the last two decades it's been the summer home of Sting and Trudie Styler, who have transformed the estate into a vibrant organic farm and vineyard. Over that time, they've worked with consultants Alan York and Pedro Parra to design the vineyards and farming practices. This Sangiovese is splashed with Canaiolo and Colorino, and was fermented and aged in stainless for six months. This medium bodied wine is open and welcoming, with morello cherry, red florals, crunchy plum, a lick of leather, and fine dried herbs. Suertes del Marqués
Suertes del Marqués
7 Fuentes
100+ year old ungrafted and organic listan negro is splashed with 10% castellana negra in this singular wine, showcasing Tenerife's volcanic soils and vineyard altitude up to 750m. Suertes del Marqués considers this their 'village wine', and an introduction to their range. Careful aging for 9 months in concrete and neutral French oak gives this lighter red ample fine texture and finesse, with wild flowers, wild plum, pink grapefruit, and stony salts wafting throughout the slender frame, woven with volcanic reduction and pink peppercorns. Tannins are spiderweb fine and strong, and acidity is effortless. Give this a light chill and some airtime in the glass before enjoying liberally.
"The village red from La Orotava 2020 7 Fuentes was produced with Listán Negro and 5% Castellana Negra from up to 25 different vineyards, mostly from the center and east of the valley where the grapes are mostly red, with vines ranging between 10 and 200 years old at altitudes of 300 to 700 meters on different soils, all volcanic but with more or less clay, silt and sand. It fermented with 10% full clusters in concrete with indigenous yeasts and matured for eight months, 70% in concrete and 30% of the volume in used 500-liter oak barrels, then it was blended and kept in stainless steel until bottling. It has moderate alcohol, 12.65%, and mellow acidity. 2020 was a warm year with a very early harvest and good yields after a small crop in 2019. This is herbal and a little reductive, with a polished palate and fine tannins. 58,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2022. Vidonia
From Tenerife's volcanic soils, this organically farmed old-vine listán blanco was rooted at 350-550m. Vidonia is an old colloquial term for the historic whites of the island, traditionally dominated by listán blanco and generally field blends. This mineral-driven blend was native fermented in neutral 500L casks and 25hL foudre before spending another 11 months rest there. A flinty reduction is woven throughout this vintage, mingling with subtle quince, mirabelle plum, green apple, verbena, and wild meadow herbs. The finish is long and saline. There is nothing but volcanic that this wine could be.
"The 2022 Vidonia is pure Listán Blanco from different ancient vineyards in the village of la Orotava at 350 to 600 meters above sea level. It fermented in 2,500-liter oak foudres and 500-liter oak barrels with indigenous yeasts and matured in those containers for 11 months. The wine was very recently bottled when I tasted it, and the nose was a bit dizzy, so I had to be guided by the palate, which is fine and elegant, reflecting the richer soils from La Orotava (compared to those from Los Realejos). It's a little riper and has a faint bitter twist in the finish. 8,400 bottles produced. It was bottled in September 2023. Réserve Pinot Noir
Château Haut-Blanville is a family-owned Languedoc wine estate that was founded in 1997 by Béatrice & Bernard Nivollet. Their 70 ha of vineyards extend across The Grés de Montpellier AOP, stretching from the Hérault middle valley to the Vidourle, and from the Mediterranean in the south to the Pic Saint-Loup in the north. Wines are produced naturally, without the use of any additions except a minimal amount of sulphur upon bottling. This pinot noir comes from the limestone and basalt soils of Pézenas at 100-150m, on a cool, north-facing single vineyard. Downy plum, wild blueberry and perfumed cherry flood the medium palate, framed with fine, sticky tannins and brightened with easy acidity through a saline finish. Pretty smart PN for an amazing price.

Sourced from 250m in the subregion of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and limestone / volcanic laced soils, this organic Grigio was native fermented on skins in stainless steel. Pear skin, elderflower, lemon peel, meadow grass is bright and lifted on the slight 12% palate, with energy and texture via the skin time and soils. From Tenerife's volcanic soils, this is based on Listán Blanco, with a mix of 10-150-year-old native grapes Marmajuelo, Guao, Vijariego Blanco, Verdelo, Torrontés and Baboso Blanco sourced across various vineyards 300-700m in the Valle de La Orotava, and predominantly grown in the traditional cordón trenzado training system. After native ferment in a mix of concrete and older French casks, this aged nine months on lees in concrete, foudres, and older 500L barrels. Distinctively volcanic, with a near shocking reductive smack upon first opening, this quickly segues into flake salts, wild lemon, pear skin, green fig, verbena, across an energetic palate, grippy with crushed stones. Marine and wild and singular.
"I also tasted the white 2022 Trenzado from old cordón trenzado vineyards of Listán Blanco in the village of Los Realejos. It fermented and matured in oak foudres and barrels for 11 months. It has lower alcohol than the 2021, 12.2%, and very good freshness and acidity. The soils from Los Realejos are poorer than the ones from La Orotava, and the wines tend to be more reductive, as I saw in both vintages of this wine when compared with other whites from the Orotava village. He tries to ferment cleaner juice to have less reduction. This is tasty and has a rounder palate, while the wine from 2021 (that I tasted next to it) was more austere. 24,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2022. Drink Date: 2024-2029.” - 93 points, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Nov 30, 2023

Luis Seabra
Luis Seabra
Xisto Ilimitado Branco
Ilimitado is akin to Seabra's village wine. This Branco comes from mica, schist, and feldspar soils (what winemaker Luis Seabra deems the best for whites), this is a field blend of rabigato, códega, gouveio, vioshino and more, with vines 30-60 years old, and at 400-500m in altitude. After crushing and destemming, the grapes are pressed together, native fermented, and aged in used French oak barrels for 7 months on lees, with no MLF or bâtonnage. Fragrant pear, quince blossoms, grapefruit streak across a stony, electric palate, with a slick of lees over river stones that linger on the saline finish. Very refined, with beauty energy and verve.
"The next vintage of Xisto Limitado White takes up at precisely the moment where 2021 left off, like watching your favourite Netflix show that flips from episode to episode without pause. A reminder that the White is normally a blend of six different varieties, including rabigato, côdega do larinho, gouveio and viosinho grown in various sub-sets of the Douro Valley. While the ’21 showed a bit more flesh and creamier consistency it is this ’22 that returns to sharp, über salty and direct to the point white intensity. This is a wine of unnamed greatness, bloody invigorating and sharp as a tack. You simply can’t turn away or pass on a glass. It’s hypnotic stuff for a song. Drink 2023-2026. Tasted September 2023.” 92 points, Michael Godel, WineAlign

Il Carnasciale
Il Carnasciale
Carnasciale
Carnasciale is the second label of Il Carnasciale's iconic Caberlot, ready for drinking earlier and made with young vines, but with all the layers, and care, given to its big brother. Podere Il Carnasciale is situated in the southern Chianti mountains in the Valdarno di Sopra region of Tuscany, 30km north of Siena and Arezzo and 60 km south of Florence. True to original owner’s (Wolf Rogosky) vision, the secluded hilltop estate is run today by Moritz Rogosky, his daughter Carla-Elle and his mother Bettina, together with the enologist and winemaker Marco Maffei. This Caberlot, a naturally occurring crossing of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, is cultivated exclusively at Podere Il Carnasciale. After a native stainless start to the ferment, MLF is finished in a French 40hl botte grande where it remains for 22 months, before bottling and 6 months' rest prior to release. Ample dark florals and lashes of cracked pepper meet wild blackberry and cherry on the fleshy, savoury, and supple palate. Ample tannins are very well integrated, and acidity is bright and buzzy. Structural yet very drinkable now, this is a wine to seek out.
“The 2020 Carnasciale is gorgeous. A deeply pitched bouquet leads into a core of dark cherry / plum fruit, leather, spice, menthol, tobacco, and espresso. Intensely aromatic and deep on the palate, with fabulous depth, the 2020 is outrageously beautiful and full of character. Since 2019, Carnasciale has been a blend of fruit from younger vineyards, and aged in cask, rather than a true second wine, aged mostly in 40hL, plus a few barrels deselected from Caberlot.” 92 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Canalicchio di Sopra
Canalicchio di Sopra
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
In 1962, Primo Pacenti founded Azienda Agricola Canalicchio di Sopra, in Toscana's stunning Siena countryside. Situated in the Northeast side of the Montalcino hill, the farm extends for nearly 60 hectares, 20 hectares of which are cultivated with vines and 2 hectares with olive groves.
From the olive trees which form the backdrop to their house, this blend of Leccino and Frantoio was cold pressed, revealing an intense colour and a slightly spicy taste, ideal for finishing.

Saffron
Since the Middle Ages saffron was produced across Toscana, including on the Fanti family estate, and it remains a fragrant and precious ingredient of the region. Following Fanti’s bottling of their estate olive oils, they’ve recently been harvesting and packaging organic saffron from their Val d’Orcia estate. We are proud to import this into Canada as part of our Provisions portfolio, and it makes a thoughtful complement to our range of Fanti olive oils, and wines.

Olivier Coste Illegal Mourvèdre
This wine comes from a small appellation in Languedoc, but 100% mourvèdre is illegal there, thus, the winery declassified it to Vin de France and hid its origin. Destemmed grapes were macerated and fermented in stainless for 3 weeks, and kept there for a brief time before bottling in late winter. Tight and crunchy plum, boysenberry, wild blueberry flood the bright palate, with fine, sticky tannins to pin in the sides and welcome food pairing (sausages). Brighter and tighter than previous vintages.
