CLASSICS RELEASE: Fanti Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Le Macchiarelle 2013

The Tenuta Fanti estate has belonged to the Fanti family since the beginning of the eighteenth century. It extends across 300 hectares in Toscana, 52 hectares of which are specialized certified sustainable vineyards, 110 hectares are olive orchards with 8,500 olive trees, 80 hectares are used for seed plots, and 70 hectares are forests. In the early 1970s, Filippo Fanti became leader of the company, and refocused its direction towards high quality, starting with the soils. He sustainably replanted the vineyards and olive trees after a careful selection of the most suitable plots within the estate. In 2004, construction began on their modern and spacious gravity flow cellar for winemaking, ageing, and refinement. Tenuta Fanti aims to offer sustainably produced, high quality wines which express the terroir of Castelnuovo dell' Abate.

Thanks to Filippo’s forty years of experience as a grower, and the energy and determination of his daughter Elisa, who joined the family company in 2007, Fanti remains at the forefront of quality Brunello, and will continue into the next generation.

"Elegant and austere, the 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva shows ripe fruit nuances with dried cherry and blackberry confit. This wine offers thick richness and fiber, and it leaves a lasting impression on the palate. The density and richness of those Sangiovese-driven characteristics, with wild rose, black cherry and balsam herb, are what distinguish this Riserva in such a unique manner. It ages in tonneaux for three years. Drink date: 2020-2033." 93 points. Monica Larner, robertparker.com, February 28, 2019
