Introducing Cantina del Pino
Cantina del Pino is perched atop the hill in Barbaresco, overlooking the Ovello vineyard, and has been part of the Vacca family for over a century.
The estate's emblem is the prominent maritime pine tree on the Ovello hill, planted in the late 19th century by Domizio Cavazza, known as the "father of Barbaresco" and original owner of the estate. Renato's great-grandfather Giuseppe acquired the property in the 1920s when the Cavazza family relocated to Turin following Domizio’s passing.
For generations, the Vacca family cultivated grapes as members of the Produttori del Barbaresco cooperative until 1997, when Renato Vacca and his father Adriano began producing their own wines under the label Cantina del Pino.
Since 2020, the winery has been run by Renato's wife, Franca Miretti, assisted by Renato's father, Adriano. Together they continue to carry on Renato's legacy and the family project.
Today, the property covers 10 hectares of vineyards between the municipalities of Barbaresco and Neive and, since 2016, a a vineyard in the municipality of Mombercelli, where the Barbera d'Asti is produced.
We are proud to represent these soulful wines in Ontario, and have created a limited edition Mixed Case, allowing you to experience the range. Discover more about the family, and their available wines here.
Most of our producers are small, independently owned and operated businesses, like ours. You can view our complete portfolio here. Thank you for letting us share these producers and wines with you.
