Canalicchio di Sopra Vigna La Montosoli Brunello di Montalcino 2020
"The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Montosoli is dreamy, with a darkly floral bouquet that blends dried rose and violet with hints of sour cherry, blackberry and Tuscan dust. This is silky-smooth and round in feel, with fresh acidity that adds a lovely lift as vibrant wild berry fruits swirl throughout. Tactile mineral tones add traction as the 2020 finishes long and staining, with a coating of fine-grained tannins that gently tug at the palate. This is a radiant and generous Montosoli with the balance necessary to mature beautifully in the cellar. Drinking window: 2027-2038." 97 points, Eric Guido, Vinous

Donatella Cinelli Colombini Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2019
"On paper, in most minds and fully speaking this is a top vintage for Brunello di Montalcino and therefore anticipation for Riserva runs extremely high. Crunchy exterior and seriously leathery interior for sangiovese with layers upon layers of tannin needing to unfold. Great aromatic volume and tannic freight, a rush of intensity and finally composure. Oh baby, at the finish Riserva delivers a punch, so youthful and like the final drum crash at the end of a song that simply rocks. Indelible stamp of Donatella and a Riserva built for the ages. Drink 2026-2036." 96 points, Michael Godel, WineAlign

Donatella Cinelli Colombini Brunello di Montalcino Prime Donne 2020
"The Donatella Cinelli Colombini 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Prime Donne (with 8,700 bottles coming to the market at the new year) has a slightly darker character with more savory tones compared to the already toasty classic Brunello from the same vintage. Made with organic fruit, the wine shows hints of fireplace soot, Viennese coffee and grilled herb over a full-bodied texture. The tannins are well managed and so is the acidity. This is the first vintage in which 'Prime Donne' has earned recognition as an official 'vigna,' or vineyard, in the appellation. Drink date: 2026-2040." 94 points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Olivier Coste Old Star Carignan 2022
Since his childhood, Olivier Coste’s favourite places to play have been the vineyards and the family wine cellar at Domaine Montrose, his family’s wine estate founded in 1701 in Pézenas. With this upbringing, Olivier developed a profound attachment to the Languedoc’s terroir and landscape, and later to its wines. This was fermented and aged in stainless, to preserve the purity of the older bush vines.
"A fluid, smooth and fruity carignan showing notes of sweet cherries, crushed berries and sweet spices. Light- to medium-bodied with sleek tannins. Linear and soft. Drink now." 88 points, Jamessuckling.com

Weingut Loimer Kamptal Grüner Veltliner 2023
Carrying on his family's winemaking tradition, after studying oenology at Austria’s Klosterneuburg University and working in Germany and Napa, he took over the winery from his father in 1997. His 80 hectares of vineyards began conversion to biodynamics in 2006, and all are certified today. Unlike most of his peers, Fred vinifies his wine to dryness, like this concentrated, stony, older vine Grüner from vineyard around Langenlois, growing on loess and gneiss soils at 200-400m. Predominantly fermented and aged in large stainless tanks (5% in large oak barrels), this rested 4 months on lees before blending and bottling.
"Calm, cool, and collected with a label soothing to the eyes in mint-green. Discreetly aromatic with lime leaf, elderflower, ginger, almond, and fennel on the nose. Zesty but balanced with gentle lees and flavours of cucumber, white tea and mineral that mark the palate. Features a pleasant texture and notable persistence. Enjoy now or hold another 2-3 years." 90 points, Sara d'Amato, WineAlign
