Château Haut-Blanville is a family-owned wine estate founded in 1997 by Béatrice & Bernard Nivollet. Their goal was to find unique vineyard sites and produce single parcel, low-intervention wines when most of the local wineries were producing volume and bulk. They now own 70ha of organically farmed vineyards, and make a range of single site wines, as well as regional blends like this. Horus blends syrah and grenache into this ripe, sun-fuelled red, with baked cherry, perfumed raspberry, and ample scrubby Mediterranean herbs. Tannins are sticky and ample, though acidity is moderate, making this a natural pairing for grilled sausages / veg kabobs.

“A mix of syrah and grenache of ample fruit concentration and not much structure binding the parts and looking to age. More of a fruit first and often style through the alcohol (at 14.5 percent) suggests a sturdier and gripper Languedoc red blend. On the contrary there is a facile and easy quality about the way it drinks. Speaks to integration by way of good winemaking and ultimately generosity for a wine to enjoy now and for two more seasons. Drink 2023-2025. Tasted August 2023.” - 90 points, Michael Godel, WineAlign

“Here's an intriguingly herbal and blueberry-cassis jam flavoured red from the South of France, also minty and resinous herb-scented (lavender, rosemary), an unusual but appealing expression, very ripe and mature at this point. Tannins are still a bit grainy and firm, though I'd suggest enjoying now on the remaining fruit, lightly chilled, with something salty and protein-based off the grill. Tasted August 2023.” - 89 points, John Szabo MS, WineAlign
