FitaPreta Vinhos

FitaPreta Vinhos
Branco Alentejano

This blend of Roupeiro, Rabo de Ovelha, Antão Vaz, Tamarez, Alicante Branco, and Arinto are sourced from 2 organic vineyards in Alentejo's granitic and limestone soils, and vines from 30-50 years, up to 400m in altitude. After a whole bunch press and a native ferment in primarily stainless barrels (the second pressing goes into older barrels), this remained there on lees for six months before bottling.

White grapefruit, green fig, pine nuts flood the bright, juicy palate, with a buzzy granitic grip that takes this to a saline finish.

"Full bottle 1,312 g. Roupeiro, Rabo de Ovelha, Antão Vaz, Tamarez (aka Trincadeira das Pratas), Alicante Branco, Arinto in a 50-year-old field blend. Dry-farmed. Grapes hand-harvested from 11 pm, during the night, to arrive cool at 7 am at the winery. Whole-cluster pressed in a pneumatic press. Suspended solids were allowed to settle naturally (6–12 hours) and racked for fermentation. Fermentation was in a combination of vertical stainless-steel tanks (85%), small stainless-steel horizontal tanks (5%) and neutral oak (10%). Indigenous-yeast fermentation. After fermentation it stayed on lees till end of February. Certified organic. Surprisingly delicate aroma of pure citrus with a light flinty/smoky note. Rounded and creamy on the palate, the fruit so pure it tastes almost sweet even though it is bone dry, with a lightly chalky texture. Mouth-watering, refined, long, with nascent complexity and great drinkability. (JH). Drink 2025 – 2029.” - 17/20 points, Jancis Robinson
