Vinyes Domenech

Vinyes Domènech
Bancal del Bosc Tinto

Vinyes Domènech is a family project started Joan Ignaci and his wife, Rita, in Capçanes, in the south of Priorat. Together with their sons, they biodynamically farm 15 hectares of recovered old-vines vineyards. This is 85/15 Garnacha / Samsó (AKA Carignan) from red clay and calcareous soils. After a native ferment, this aged in both French oak and stainless for 6 months. Wild and stony, this fuller red is infused with scrubby herbs and wildflowers, and wrapped with fine, sticky tannins, laced with pink peppercorn. There's a beauty mountain freshness here, easily lofting garnacha's 14.5 degrees. A lovely pairing for pork / wild mushrooms.

“Lifted, seriously fruity and naturally volatile at the edge of what may or not be a threshold breached. For some and not for others but this Monsanto touches all the bases and never ceases its circulations. Mediterranean scents and quite tannic, neither unusual nor beyond reproach. Quite a devilishly delicious wine in the end built on emotions and possibility. Enough to forgive the volatility. Drink 2023-2026. Tasted November 2023.” - 91 points, Michael Godel, WineAlign.com
