Revana Family Vineyards is owned by Dr. Madaiah Revana who currently is a practicing Cardiologest in Houston, Texas. He grew up however, on a farm in India near Bangalore which perhaps provided the initial background to enter a specialized agricultural field such as the wine industry.
With a passion for Bordeaux and a personal philosophy of the importance of balance between autonomy and collaboration, Dr. Revana enlists the talents of Thomas Rivers Brown as winemaker, and Jim Barbour as vineyard manager, to create one of Napa Valley’s premier estates.
Wine quality begins in the vineyard. The Revana Estate Vineyard is situated in a prime part of St. Helena where deep, well-drained alluvial soils pair with warm days and cool nights to provide an ideal terroir for Cabernet Sauvignon. Hands-on vineyard management ensures that the natural potential of each vine is realized and only perfect Cabernet grapes are brought into the winery. Once in the winery, Thomas Brown’s artfully restrained approach to winemaking allows for the pure expression of the Revana Estate Vineyard. Employing natural yeasts, gentle maceration and attention to every detail, Thomas crafts wines of purity, depth, character and elegance.

Terroir Series Cabernet Sauvignon
From a mix of sites in Napa Valley, including the Revana Estate Vineyard in St. Helena, this is 77% Cabernet Sauvignon (clones 7 and 337), 18% Merlot (clone 6), 4% Cabernet Franc (clone 1), and 1% Petit Verdot (clone 2). This was native fermented in small lots, and aged 20 months in French oak (75% new), bottled unfined and unfiltered, and aged for one year in bottle prior to release. Plush and ripe, with black plum, blackberry, dark cherry, pipe tobacco, dark earth drawn across a textural palate. Tannins are chewy and dense. This is quite reserved at present, and will reward with airtime and / or cellaring.
“There are 1,200 cases of the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Terroir Series, which comes from a mix of sites in the valley. This medium to full- bodied, layered Cabernet has impressive plum and blackberry fruits, ripe, sweet tannins, a balanced mouthfeel, and complex notes of dried tobacco, spice, and earth.
