Silvio Carta is one of the most influential companies in Sardinia, and has earned a great reputation beyond regional borders thanks to the great quality of their liqueurs and spirits. At the helm is Elio, son of the founder Silvio, a talented oenologist-turned-distiller with a scrupulous respect for Sardinian tradition. The range of Carta's gins and liqueurs showcase Elio's expressive imagination and generous talent as a master distiller. The amplified quality of the products along with attractive packaging design present an alluring modern interpretation of elemental Sardinian recipes.

Elio is meticulous about the quality of the botanicals used in every infusion, which are always used fresh, and less than one hour after being harvested. Elio is also a steward of the land, knowing how to sustainably use wild plants and monitor growing cycles to ensure each flower, leaf or berry is harvested at its best and handled most delicately. The motto that guides all the company's work is contained in the simple expression "harmony of nature", a historical title of many of Carta's advertising campaigns, and which translates into some essential points: respect for ancient traditional recipes in order to preserve the flavours and aromas of a time and place, while preserving precious environmental health.

This enticing Sardinian myrtle liqueur is made from hand picked myrtle berries that grow metres from the seaside. 1.2kg of berries are used in each distillate bringing intense myrtle aromas along with a touch of herbaceousness from the mytele leaf, bayleaf, plum jam, sage and other Mediterranean herbs. Smooth, ripe and refined, drinking this is like eating a handful of ripe berries. Drink after dinner over ice or enjoy in a spritz.

Silvio Carta founded his eponymous company in Baratili San Pietro in the 1950’s, devoting himself to making traditional wines and spirits of the region. Sixty years on, Silvio, together with his son Elio, the latter at the head since 1973, still devote themselves to these aims. This cannonau (garnacha) comes from 12 year old vines, near the sea, rooted in calcareous soils. It was native fermented in stainless, where it remained for 8-10 months' rest. Perfumed purple and blue fruits are imbued with ample scrubby resinous herbs, scented with wild florals, and lined with worked leather. Tannins are sinewy but will absorbed into the fuller wine, guiding to a spiced finish. Tastes of the Mediterranean.

The lemons for Carta Limonello (purposely missing the 'C') are grown in the organic garden on the Carta estate. They are picked by hand early in the morning, washed and then infused with alcohol over a period of 20-30 days. The liqueur shows powerful ripe lemon fruit, lemon oil and lemon blossoms across the juicy palate, easily braced with bright acidity and a fresh finish. Silvio Carta uses 1.1kg of WHOLE organic lemons per litre of alcohol to make this very special liqueur. Enjoy as a digestive straight from the freezer, or over ice and tonic water, and a fresh basil leaf.

This premium, clear, small batch dry gin contains hand foraged wild juniper berries that grow beachside, 5 metres from the Sardinian coastline, and are used fresh (not dried) in the distillation process. This is joined by lemon peel, tangerine peel, orange peel and elicriso (Helichrysum italicum), infused warmly and slowly over 2 months, resulting in a very smooth, citrusy, slightly herbal gin. Myrtle leaves and fennel is also included. Boi is a Sardinia surname.

This non-fortified Vermouth is made with a base of 2006 Vernaccia di Oristano Riserva aged for 12 years in small, 90 year old Sardinian chestnut barrels. It is infused with a blend of forged Sardinian herbs, including elicriso, Desoleana sage, myrtle leaf, thyme, lentisk (mastic) & artemisia.

Its aroma is a complex array of herbs like rosemary, bay leaf, and pine resins with a layer of honeyed walnut and apricot kernel with hints of a saline sea breeze. Intense, soft and round, this carries layered flavours of herbs and ripe honeyed stone fruit, with a lengthy and nutty finish. Enjoy as an aperitif over ice with a slice of orange, or use it in a Negroni or Americano.
