Livio Felluga is one of the most respected producers of Friuli, dedicating his life to reviving high-quality and sustainable viticulture in the hills of this north-eastern, Adriatic-influenced Italian countryside. He emigrated from Istria and established his property in Brazzano in the 1950s, buying up old, neglected vineyards and rejuvenating them. From Friulano’s Ponca soils (marl and sandstone), this friulano was fermented and aged in stainless, on lees. Lemongrass, tangerine blossom, and Asian pear fill this slip of a wine, with a crushed stone underlay that culminates in medicinal white cherry on the lingering finish. A lovely line between savoury and fragrant, with subtle and confident energy.

“Remarkably pretty, the 2022 Friulano lifts from the glass with a dusting of confectioners spices, chamomile and lemon oils. This is more savory than sweet, with fleshy textures and brisk acidity ushering in crisp orchard fruits. It tapers off with tension as the mouth waters with sour green melon and aloe nuances.
