Livio Felluga
Livio Felluga
Friuli, Italy
Livio Felluga is one of the most respected producers of Friuli, dedicating his life to reviving high-quality and sustainable viticulture in the hills of this north-eastern, Adriatic-influenced Italian countryside. He emigrated from Istria and established his property in Brazzano in the 1950s, buying up old, neglected vineyards and rejuvenating them. In 1956, when Livio anticipated an implementation of appellation of origin, he chose an ancient map of the area to create an iconic label to tell the world the story of his wines.
Today the estate stretches over more than 160 hectares of hillside in Collio Goriziano and Colli Orientali del Friuli. The Livio Felluga estate also encompasses the cellars and vineyards of the historic Abbazia di Rosazzo. The family-owned winery is now led by Livio’s son, Andrea Felluga. Known for producing lush, crisp and well-balanced wines, the winery’s reputation extends well beyond the region of Friuli and its wines are recognized in a class with the most esteemed producers from around the world.

Friulano
Livio Felluga is one of the most respected producers of Friuli, dedicating his life to reviving high-quality and sustainable viticulture in the hills of this north-eastern, Adriatic-influenced Italian countryside. He emigrated from Istria and established his property in Brazzano in the 1950s, buying up old, neglected vineyards and rejuvenating them. From Friulano’s Ponca soils (marl and sandstone), this Friulano was fermented and aged in stainless, on lees.
Fragrant white peach, melon, mandarin courses through this medium bodied white, threaded with citrus acidity holding this tight and focused through the saline, wild mint kissed finish. Lovely energy here in this quietly confident wine.
“Aromas of restrained stone fruit, peach peel, ferns, lemon leaves, flowers, iodine, stones and minerals. Very silky and smooth on the medium-bodied palate, almost leesy, yet balanced by crisp acidity, with tension in the long and savoury finish. Drink now.” - 93 points, James Suckling, September 2025

Terre Alte
Livio Felluga is one of the most respected producers of Friuli, dedicating his life to reviving high-quality and sustainable viticulture in the hills of this north-eastern, Adriatic-influenced Italian countryside. He emigrated from Istria and established his property in Brazzano in the 1950s, buying up old, neglected vineyards and rejuvenating them. Created in 1981, Terre Alte is considered one of Italy’s most prestigious white wines. The balanced blend of Friulano, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon grapes grows in their Rosazzo plot’s marl and sandstone soils, in the historic Terre Alte vineyards. It was fermented in stainless, and racked into oak casks to complete MLF and age on lees until the following summer.
“The 2022 Terre Alte is impossible to ignore as a burst of crushed rocks and sage gives way to freshly sliced nectarines, lemon zest and mint. It is deeply textural, nearly oily in feel, with tantalizing acidity and masses of lime-infused pit fruits that envelop the senses. This vintage displays remarkable depth and concentration while maintaining balance, finishing long and potent with a salty infusion that keeps the mouth watering for more. Drink 2027-2034.” - 94 points, Eric Guido for Vinous Media, October 2025
“A very minerally wine despite its aromatic complexity and fruit richness. It shows Mirabelle plums, apricots, ferns, iodine, stones, flint, tuberose and fresh dough on the nose. Medium- to full-bodied with weight, a super-silky texture, refreshing acidity, ripe stone fruit flavours and a tingling, savoury finish that’s almost salty. Drink or hold.” - 94 points, James Suckling, September 2025

Illivio
Livio Felluga is one of the most respected producers of Friuli, dedicating his life to reviving high-quality and sustainable viticulture in the hills of this north-eastern, Adriatic-influenced Italian countryside. He emigrated from Istria and established his property in Brazzano in the 1950s, buying up old, neglected vineyards and rejuvenating them. Illuvio was created in 1998 by Livio Felluga’s children, who dedicated the wine to him for his 85th birthday. Unlike his signature varietal series, done in stainless, this blend of Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Picolit was fermented and aged in small oak casks on lees.
Fragrant white peach, pear, and quince runs along a silky lees-decked palate, with white grapefruit pith and peel to frame, and oak spice to season.
“A complex and ambitious wine with toast, white and yellow fruit, grapefruit, pears and touches of caramel and butter on the nose. Generous on the palate, with a medium body and filigreed silkiness, yet it’s crisp and refreshing. Very good, tense finish. Drink now.” - 93 points, James Suckling, September 2025

Ribolla Gialla
Livio Felluga is one of the most respected producers of Friuli, dedicating his life to reviving high-quality and sustainable viticulture in the hills of this north-eastern, Adriatic-influenced Italian countryside. He emigrated from Istria and established his property in Brazzano in the 1950s, buying up old, neglected vineyards and rejuvenating them. Rooted in ponca soils, this was native fermented in stainless, where it remained on lees for a few months until bottling.
Mandarin, white blossoms, green apple is lightly slicked with lees and seasoned with white pepper over a river stone base, with lingering salinity. There's a lovely delicacy and presence here, drinking now and with time ahead.
“Brilliant straw yellow colour. Expressive nose, reminiscent of pear and apple, followed by lemon balm and a hint of sea breeze. Juicy on the palate with an animating bitter note, refreshing acidity, salty, lingering finish.” - 92 points, Wine Enthusiast, October 2025

Sossó Rosso Riserva
Livio Felluga is one of the most respected producers in Friuli, dedicating his life to reviving high-quality and sustainable viticulture in the hills of this north-eastern, Adriatic-influenced region. He emigrated from Istria and established his property in Brazzano in the 1950s, buying up old, neglected vineyards and rejuvenating them. Created in 1989, this wine is named after the Sossó stream, which runs at the foot of the hill where the grapes grow. From old vine Merlot and Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso grapes, together with a small percentage of Pignolo, this was fermented in stainless before aging in small French barrels. Wild and herbal black fruit is tamed by time, leaving black plum, blackberry, dried florals, anise gliding along the medium bodied palate, shaped with well integrated tannins, and lifted with tart blackcurrant acidity. This is drinking at prime now, ideally with herb crushed lamb and/or root veg.

Abbazzia di Rosazzo
Livio Felluga is one of the most respected producers in Friuli, dedicating his life to reviving high-quality and sustainable viticulture in the hills of this north-eastern, Adriatic-influenced region. He emigrated from Istria and established his property in Brazzano in the 1950s, buying up old, neglected vineyards and rejuvenating them. This, Livio's flagship white, is a blend of Friulano, Pinot Bianco, Ribolla Gialla, Sauvignon, and Malvasia Istriana, from the marl and sandstone soils of the historical vineyards of the Abbazia di Rosazzo, a site with more than 1,000 years of viticulture. After starting ferment in stainless, this was moved to oak casks to complete fermentation and aging.
Subtly savoury, this moves honeysuckle, white grapefruit, light quince, gentle tangerine and chamomile across the medium palate, framed with white grapefruit pith and peel, and finishing with a buzzy earthy stoniness. Drinking now.

Pinot Grigio
Livio Felluga is one of the most respected producers of Friuli, dedicating his life to reviving high-quality and sustainable viticulture in the hills of this north-eastern, Adriatic-influenced Italian countryside. He emigrated from Istria and established his property in Brazzano in the 1950s, buying up old, neglected vineyards and rejuvenating them. From marl and sandstone hills, this was macerated for a short time (hence the slightest copper hue and grip) before a stainless ferment and six months on lees.
Bright and textural, with meadow grass, pear, tangerine pith sailing along a long, slender palate, subtly buzzy through a saline finish. Quietly confident.
“A fairly neutral yet focused wine with delicate aromas of fresh pears, beeswax, flowers. spices and pepper. Light- to medium-bodied, very silky, refined and savoury, with Mirabelle plum flavours and a tight savoury finish with a touch of bitterness. Drink now.” - 91 points, James Suckling, 2024
