Tras da Vińa Albariño
Founded in 1707, the family owned Zarate estate is located in Rias Baixas' lauded Val do Salnés subregion. Their sloping, weathered granite vineyards are translated via albariño, a grape intrinsically associated with the estate. 7th generation Eulogio Pomares runs this historic bodega today, farming almost fully biodynamically. Tras da Vińa is a single plot of 50 year old vines aged for 2 years on lees in stainless.
“The 2022 Tras da Viña has a golden color and a more exotic nose compared with the 2023s I tasted next to it. It's a wine that is bottled one year later. It has 13.5% alcohol and is intense, with pungent flavors and a dry mouthfeel with the granularity of the granite soils. I think the 2022s are going to evolve a little faster. There are some 6,200 bottles and 150 magnums. It was bottled in June 2024. Drink 2024-2029.” - 95 points, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate
