Family owned and operated, DogRidge farms 56 hectares of vineyards at the base of The Range, overlooking McLaren Vale. DogRidge, an old vigorous rootstock no longer used in modern viticulture, was an apt name for the family’s property, reflecting their love for their Curly Coated Retrievers.
Their sustainably farmed vineyards are home to some of the oldest vines in McLaren Vale, with 80+ year old Shiraz, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon growing on their McLaren Flat site. A variety of soil types and exposures allow them ample opportunity for small block blends and terroir-driven wines.

MVP Grenache
DogRidge’s sustainably farmed vineyards are home to some of the oldest vines in McLaren Vale, with 80+ year old Shiraz, Grenache, and Cabernet Sauvignon growing on their McLaren Flat site. MVP is their Most Valuable Player, and the pinnacle tier of the winery. With 10% whole bunch, this was native fermented with extended skin contact and spent 6 months in new French oak before being racked to older barrels. It remains in wood for around 2 years prior to bottling. Dried cherry, strawberry compote, dried blossoms, cracked mustard seed, worked leather flood a juicy palate, wrapped with finely sticky tannins, and swelled with an easy acidity. OV Grenache's concentration and warmth is countered by the juicy acidity, leaving this full-bodied wine still feeling buoyant. Drinking beauty now, ideally with grilled pork / mushrooms.
