Domaine Chevalier originated in 1850 when it was created by Emile Dubois.

Marcelle Dubois, his daughter, and his Son-in-Law Emile Chevalier inherited the estate just after the First World War and took full responsibility.  Conscientious and meticulous, Emile Chevalier, just after the difficult years of phylloxera crisis, spent years of hard work perfecting the quality of the vines in the farm , and his son Georges, with his paternal experience, took succession and began to enlarge and valorize the Estate, first by establishing the planting of three hectares in Gamay, and also by acquiring a parcel in Corton-Charlemagne.

Georges Chevalier learned quickly, not only by the love of his work, but with his serious dedication to make remarkable wines. In 1959, he began domaine-bottling. In 1975, when Claude, son of Georges, joined the family business at age 16. Claude took control of the cellars in 1994 and modernized the winery and wines, while continuing to expand the estate by adding a further eleven hectares. In 2000, Claude brought legendary oenologist Kyriakos Kynigopoulos, ‘the vineyard magician,’ into the fold.

Two hamlets share this Domaine of 266 hectares: Ladoix, which takes its name from the old French name “La Douix” (The Source) and Buisson, recognized since 1305 and former property of the Hospices de Beaune.
