Podere Gagliassi
Nebbiolo d’Alba
From Serralunga d'Alba at 400-450m, this was fermented in stainless and aged in stainless and French tonneaux.
Alluring crushed florals on the nose carry through to the palate, with firm Nebbiolo structure, darts of iron, scrubby herbs, and long, finely firm tannins that finish with a dusting of pink pepper. Smart, fresh, modern.

Weingut Loimer
Grüner Veltliner Kamptal
Carrying on his family's winemaking tradition, after studying oenology at Austria’s Klosterneuburg University and working in Germany and Napa, Fred Loimer took over the winery from his father in 1997. His 80 hectares of vineyards began conversion to biodynamics in 2006, and all are certified today. Unlike most of his peers, Fred vinifies his wine to dryness, like this concentrated, stony, older vine grüner from vineyard around Langenlois, growing on loess and gneiss soils at 200-400m. Predominantly fermented and aged in large stainless tanks (5% in large oak barrels), this rested 4 months on lees before blending and bottling.
Juicy pink grapefruit, lime zest, honeycrisp apple floods the palate, dusted with white pepper, and finishing with a grapefruit twist. A friendly, smart white and excellent introduction to Kamptal and Loimer. *New label this vintage.

On Seven Estate Winery
The Pursuit Pinot Noir
On Seven is a relatively new boutique Niagara winery owned by passionate wine aficionados Vittorio & Sula De Stefano. The De Stefanos bought an abandoned 7 acre vineyard (hence the name) in 2009 in Four Mile Creek, and under the guidance of consultant viticulturist and founding winemaker Peter Gamble, prepped the site for 3 years before replanting in 2014. The heavy clay loams are laced with calcareous deposits, and sloped north to maintain freshness. The philosophy from the beginning was to be 100% organic certified, and produce wines with minimal intervention.
This Pinot Noir, their inaugural release, is off estate fruit from a 2017 planting of Dijon clone 115, and a 2019 planting of clones 777 and 828. This was native ferment, with partial whole clusters, before aging in French oak barrels (25% new, 75% neutral). After 20 months in barrel, the wines were coarsely filtered and bottled.

Blanville Reserve Réserve
Blanville
Cabernet Sauvignon Réserve
Château Haut-Blanville is a family-owned Languedoc wine estate founded in 1997 by Béatrice & Bernard Nivollet. The Nivollets based their estate on the Burgundian model of terroir first, creating wines showing the diversity of Languedoc. Their 70 ha of vineyards extend across The Grés de Montpellier AOP.
Though the new label sports a Réserve title, this is the same wine as previously on our market. Crushed cassis, downy plum is hugged with sticky tannins though a stony finish. Simple and smooth and easy to crack into now.

NAT’Cool! Branco
NAT’Cool is Dirk Niepoort's line of wines that are low-intervention, low-alcohol, available only in a 1L format, affordable, and highly smashable. This cloudy pét-nat ish Vinho Verde, comes from the sub-region of Lousada, and is a mix of Azal, Arinto, Avesso, Trajadura, and Loureiro, and vines 25-30 years. After beginning ferment in stainless, it was bottled with a few grams RS, so it could continue to percolate in the bottle, affording it a gentle spritz.
Lightly hazy straw hue, this streams meadow grass, green and yellow apple, gooseberry across the slight 11% palate, finishing with a grapefruit twist. Fun and fresh, as intended.

The Pursuit Chardonnay
This is primarily Dijon clone 76, planted 2014, with a small percentage of grapes from their 2015 planting of Dijon clone 95, and the 2018 plantings of Dijon clone 96. This was whole cluster pressed and transferred to French oak barrels (25% new) for native fermentation and 20 months aging. The wines were coarsely filtered before bottling.
Lush white peach, nectarine, and yellow apple fill a creamy palate, seasoned subtly by oak, and plumped with gentle lees. There's a lingering river stone freshness on the finish of this stylish wine, drinking now or with time ahead. The 2022 harvest yielded zero fruit for On Seven, so this is the first time we're seeing this label since 2021.

Jean Max Le Rouge à Lièvre
This gamay came from a single vineyard in St. Germain Nuelles, and 50 year old vines rooted in calcareous soils. It was native fermented and carbonically macerated before aging in barrel 9 months, with minimal sulphur added before bottling. 3450 bottles and 40 magnums made.
Perfumed peony, fragrant wildflowers, wild raspberry runs the length of this slight palate, with fine, lightly sticky tannins hugging the sides, and a buoyant, lofted acidity sailing this through a saline finish. So charming, much like the hare on the label.

From 70 year old gamay in southern Bojo's Charnay, rooted its calcareous clay soils, this was carbonically macerated, with 7 months in oak, prior to a tightening moon phase rest in stainless, and bottling with low sulphur. A characterful charmer, much like the hare on the label.
Pretty and perfumed raspberry, cherry, and wildflowers roll across the palate, dusted with pink peppercorn, and lofted with an easy, buoyant acidity. Tannins are finely sticky, framing this and welcoming charcuterie / grilled sausages. #gogamaygo

Beaujolais En Roue Libre
Thibault Ducroux grew up in a winemaking family in Bojo but was inspired towards natural wines through reading Jules Chauvet. After working with some natural winemakers in Bojo and Jura, he began his winery with 1.25ha owned vines and 6.5ha total via long-term contracts, all organically farmed and in conversion. This was the wine he made, in 2019, and called En Roue Libre, 'Freewheeling,' referencing his non-intervention winemaking and his love of cycling (he used to race in a club). From 40 year old vines in silty clays, this was whole bunch of carbo, native ferment, and aged in concrete for eight months with no fining, filtration and the bare minimum of sulphur at bottling.
Fragrant raspberry, cherry blossoms, scrubby, sapid herbs are woven throughout this lighter red, sharpened with lofted acidity, wrapped with long, fine tannins, and dusted with pink peppercorn. Really pretty and charming. #GoGamayGo.

FitaPreta Vinhos
Palpite Reserva
Palpite is FitaPreta's top wine that they make every year. This year's blends Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez, Castelão Trincadeira, with 12% other indigenous varieties, all grown on Alentejo's yellow schists and granites and from vines 20-50 years. After a native ferment this aged 18 months in French oak prior to bottling.
Full bodied and muscular, with chewy cassis, dusky black plums, pipe tobacco working through the fleshy palate. Acidity is tart, and tannins are ample and dense, framing this through the peppery finish. One for grilled steaks now, or to settle for a couple of years.

a Laranja Mecânica
This is Antonio Maçanita's Clockwork Orange. Arinto, Roupeiro, Verdelho, Antão Vaz, Alincante Branco, Trincadeira-das-Pratas, Fernão Pires make up the Alentejo coferment blend, from various granite-soiled vineyards and vines 15-50 years old. After the first whole bunch pressing, 10-15% of the remaining juice macerated on the skins for a week, and then was pressed again and reunited with the whole, where it native fermented. It remained in stainless on lees until it was bottled, unfiltered, the following fall.
Pouring a hazy golden orange hue, this textural white draws honeycomb, apricot, bergamot, lime peel, and marmalade along the buzzy palate, with a lingering salinity and citrus twist. Super smart, food-friendly, and balanced, this works for solo sipping or with foods.

Barbaresco 2021
This spent 2 years in older wood, bottled without filtration, and spent 1 year in bottle prior to release.
Kirsch, balsam, and scrubby herbs light up the nose and carry through the medium bodied palate, woven with wild cherry, wild raspberry, plum, scrubby herbs and cracked white pepper. Tannins are ample and sticky, but well integrated into the fruit. Great energy and form now, and with time ahead. Give this time to open in the glass.
"The Cantina del Pino 2021 Barbaresco (with 12,000 bottles made) is perfumed and nuanced with pretty fruit tones of cassis and dried cherry and an equally important floral side with rose potpourri and iris root. The wine starts fermentation in both stainless steel and oak vats, and it matures in large oak casks for 24 months before going into bottle. It glides over the palate with polished tannins and a lean to mid-weight mouthfeel. I'd give this vintage a little more bottle age to allow it to flesh out further. Alluring wild cherry, wildflowers, fine espresso, ferrous dust, and bergamot teem along the fuller palate, with long, finely grippy tannins framing to a medicinal kirsch scented finish. As with all their wines, ample freshness here, belying its 14.5% and the generous 2020 vintage. Drinking now, beautifully and amply.
"Elegant and precise, the Cantina del Pino 2020 Barbaresco brings lots of freshness and a charming view of young Nebbiolo fruit. This vintage tends to be more accessible overall, but you are nonetheless awarded with the subtle nuances and complexity that characterize this variety. There is tart cassis, violet and earthy licorice root. This is a 12,000-bottle release. Drink 2026-2039.” - 93 points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Jan 30, 2025

Château Penin
Château Penin
Clairet
This family business was founded in 1855 by Louis Carteyron and his son Jacques. In 2022, Antoine and his brother Etienne became the sixth generation to run the estate, which has grown to 50 sustainably farmed hectares. This lighter red blends 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc from grapes grown on a limestone plateau at the top of the village. After a short maceration over 24-48 hours, this was lightly pressed and slowly fermented at low temperature over 20 days, with MLF done on roughly 50% of the vats. It was then matured 4 months on fine lees before bottling. This used to be the wine for the family and was not commercialized until Jacques started to sell it in the 80s.
Pouring a light crimson hue, this is a slight, light red, with crushed wildflowers, wild raspberry, and finely lifted acidity framed with barely there tannins from the short maceration. The finish lingers with pink peppercorn. A charmer.

Cabernet Franc Massale Selection
This family business was founded in 1855 by Louis Carteyron and his son Jacques. In 2022, Antoine and his brother Etienne became the sixth generation to run the estate, which has grown to 50 sustainably farmed hectares. This red comes from two parcels on deep gravels and clay limestone soils, with vines from a massale selection collected from a century-old vineyard in Pomerol. These old vines carry the authentic genetics and perfumed aromas of Cabernet Franc that clones cannot. The wine was fermented at low temperature in stainless tanks over 15 days, and aged in concrete with limited racking to preserve fruitiness.
Perfumed violets, wild blueberries, juicy boysenberry is threaded with crushed stones and pink peppercorn, housed with fine, long, lightly grippy tannins. Light on its feet, but with structure to partner to roast pork or duck. A charmer.
“The 2019 Cabernet Franc Massale has a floral bouquet evoking aromas of violet, dark berries and smoke intertwined with a delicate reduction note. Medium to full-bodied, layered and tense, it’s juicy with a complete profile. A fine value, it’s well worth seeking out. Drink 2023-2030.” – 91 points, Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate

Olivier Coste Orange Star
As you can assume from the name, and the glowing orange hue, Orange Star is an organic skin contact blend of 90% Muscat à Petits Grains and 10% Grenache Gris from their Faugères estate, with 7 days’ maceration before blending and a 6 month stint in stainless.
Highly perfumed tangerine, pink grapefruit, Asian pear, and pear blossom are stencilled on the slight palate, with an alluring buzzy hum through a pithy bergamot finish. Smart and snappy.
