This Nebbiolo comes from estate and purchased fruit in Serralunga d'Alba at 400-450m. After a stainless ferment, this aged in French barriques.
"This fresh and focused Barolo shows dusty crushed-stone minerality, complemented by aromas of cherries, raspberries, orange peel and dried herbs. Medium-bodied and dry, it features fine tannins, a lightly chewy texture and a refreshing citrus character. Mineral-driven finish. Drink after 2027.” 92 points, James Suckling

Domaine Rolet Etoile

L’Étoile Chardonnay En Novalet
This Chardonnay is grown on the hills near Lons Le Saunier, with distinguished soils of grey blue marls and star shaped fossils called pentacrine, after which this small appellation was named. Their plot, En Novalet, is located in the village of Planoiseau. L'étoile is fermented in barrique, where it ages for a year before bottling.
There's a lovely flinty reduction shaping this savoury medium bodied chardy, with crushed stones, lemon peel, green apple, and a white grapefruit cut that lingers on the saline finish. Quite a lot of impact for 13.5%, this is drinking very smart now, and with time ahead.

NAT’Cool! Tinto Bairrada
Dirk Niepoort's NAT'Cool! range of wines were created to meet certain criteria : be made as naturally as possible, be low alcohol, be terroir-driven, use native grapes to the region, be affordable, and be so smashable that it's only sold in 1L bottles. This lighter, shining red is 40-100 year old baga vines from the limestone laced, clay soils of Bairrada. This was native fermented and aged in stainless, to preserve the purity of fruit.
Wild cherry, perfumed raspberry, crushed herbs teem throughout this lifted, fresh red, with fine, long tannins taking this through a saline finish. Such a charmer, and best enjoyed with a slight chill.

Donatella Cinelli Colombini
Donatella Cinelli Colombini
Brunello di Montalcino Prime Donne
Montalcino’s Casato Prime Donne is made up of 40 organic hectares, 16 of which are planted to Sangiovese. There is also a modern, artistic, fresco-filled winery and ageing facility for the Rosso and Brunello di Montalcino wines. The entire staff is female, including the head winemaker, and Donatella has become a beacon for women in the wine industry, not only in Italy, but globally. Donatella noticed that wine critics for the Italian wine guides were all men. She decided then to unite a small group of talented women wine professionals, asking them to blind taste future Brunello from different barrels, and to select the best lots. Donatella considers this result, the Brunello Prime Donne, the flagship for her wineries.
Sangiovese from the clay-limestone Ardita Vineyard surrounding the winery at 250m, was handpicked and fermented on skins for 15 days in stainless and unlined concrete. It was then moved to 5-7hl French tonneaux, before finishing in traditional 15-40hl oak barrels from Slavonia for 2.5 years. Prior to being bottled, unfiltered, the wine rested in unlined concrete vats. Prime Donne is a powerful Brunello destined for a long ageing.
Fragrant wild cherry and raspberry flows through this graceful, structural wine, layered with medicinal cassis, leather, balsam, and crushed stones. Tannins are long and finely firm, well integrated into the lifted, stony fruit, and guide this to a lingering scrubby herb finish. Quite special, and from the lauded 2019 vintage, this is drinking beautifully now, and with time ahead in your cellar. Only 6,000 bottles produced.
"Notes of menthol and anise complement the cherry, plum, mineral and tobacco flavors in this expressive red, which is backed by a steely structure, with assertive tannins lining the extended aftertaste. Intense and delineated. Best from 2026 through 2043." - 96 points, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, March 20, 2024.
“The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Progetto Prime Donne is a seductress enticing with exotic spice, rubbed sage, cedar, dusty rose, and dried strawberry aromas. Cool-toned and classic in feel, it washes across the palate with seamlessly silky textures that balance tart wild berries with vibrant acidity. Tactile minerals add grip toward the close. This finishes dramatically long and staining, leaving violet inner florals to mingle with orange as a web of fine tannins frame the experience perfectly. The 2019 is the most balanced and complex rendition of Prime Donne I’ve yet encountered.” - 95+ points, Eric Guido, Vinous.

Pinot Grigio
Thankfully this is not your typical Italian pinot grigio. Sourced from 250m in the subregion of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and from limestone / volcanic laced soils, this organic grigio was native fermented briefly on skins in stainless steel.
Crisp, crunchy, and bright, this sings on the slight palate with green apple, Asian pear, and meadow grass, with kisses of elderflower, and a snappy, saline finish. Super smart and easily drinkable, especially at this value.

Jean-Maurice Raffault JM
Jean-Maurice Raffault
Chinon Rouge Les Picasses
Jean-Maurice Raffault and Rodolphe Raffault’s family began cultivating vines in Chinon 14 generations ago, when their ancestor, Mathurin Bottreau, bought his first parcel of vines in 1693. Today, Domaine Jean-Maurice Raffault owns 50 organically farmed hectares of vines in 7 communes. This certified organic cabernet franc is from the Les Picasses lieu dit, atop a plateau overlooking the Vienne, the windiness of the site reflected in the windmill on the label. Vines have been planted here since the 15th century. Soils here are stony limestone and clay. After destemming and a native ferment, with one month skin contact, this moves to barriques for MLF and aging 12 months on fine lees.
Super perfumed, with ample fragrant plums, wild blackberry, thorns, and crushed florals on a medium palate, gripped with ample firm, gritty tannins, and finishing with a lingering peppery note. Lovely lift and freshness, encouraging partnering this with food (think grilled sausages).
“Full bottle 1,279 g. From a well-exposed plateau at the highest point between the Vienne and Loire rivers. Vines have been planted here since the 15th century. The name Picasses derives from the picks used to work on vines planted on stony soil. The soil in the Picasses vineyard is a blend of limestone and clay with small stones, which gives the wine its intensity and structure. J-M Raffault owns six hectares of Les Picasses, spread over 10 parcels of vines between 15 and 60 years old. The Picasses was fermented with a month's skin contact and is aged in three- to seven-year-old barrels for 12 months on fine lees with malo taking place in cask. Certified organic.
Much more structure and serious intent than the Galuches 2022 tasted alongside. But personally I do rather miss the pure Cabernet Franc fruit which is here rather disguised by the oak and extra extraction. It's at a rather awkward stage at the moment but may well age into something more pleasing. Finishes a little sort and drying. (JR) Drink 2025-2032.” - 16+ Jancis Robinson, MW, December 17, 2023.

Reserve Pinot Noir Réserve

Pinot Noir Réserve
Château Haut-Blanville is a family-owned Languedoc wine estate that was founded in 1997 by Béatrice & Bernard Nivollet. Their 70 ha of vineyards extend across The Grés de Montpellier AOP, stretching from the Hérault middle valley to the Vidourle, and from the Mediterranean in the south to the Pic Saint-Loup in the north. Wines are produced naturally, without the use of any additions except a minimal amount of sulphur upon bottling. This pinot noir comes from the limestone and basalt soils of Pézenas at 100-150m, on a cool, north-facing single vineyard.
Fragrant blackberry, plump plum flood a juicy palate, with perfumed baking spices to season, and fine, supple tannins to frame. There's an alluring stony underlay here, reflective of the profound soils of Pézenas. Great value.

Donatella Cinelli Colombini
Donatella Cinelli Colombini
Leone Rosso
DOC Orcia is produced in 13 municipalities between Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. This is 60/40 sangiovese/merlot from the historic estate, built by Donatella Cinelli Colombini's ancestors in 1592 (reflected by the red lion on the label). This organic younger vine red spends 6 months in medium / large oak.
Baked cherry, plum is scented with balsam and gripped with finely gritty tannins, finishing with a warming kiss of kirsch. Partner this rustic red with winter stews and braises.
"Dusty in character and darkly floral, the 2021 Orcia Leone Rosso slowly emerges with an alluring bouquet of dried violets, stone dust and wild blueberries. This is soothingly roundand supple, with accents of tart red berry fruits offsetting silken textures as a bitter tinge of clove emerges toward the close. This tapers off with a chewy sensation and tart blackberry concentration, leaving edgy tannins to resonate. A year or two of cellaring will be necessary for the 2021 to blossom fully. The Leone Rosso is a blend of 60% Sangiovese and 40% Merlot. Drink 2026-2030.” - 91 points, Eric Guido, Vinous

Champagne Leclerc Briant Rose Rosé
Champagne Leclerc Briant
Rosé Extra Brut
This negoc house was founded in 1955 when Bertrand Leclerc married Jacqueline Briant. They were an early adopter of organic practices back in the 1960’s, and were one of the first to bottle single-vineyard Champagnes in the 1970’s. In the late 1980’s, Bertrand and Jacqueline’s son, Pascal, began integrating biodynamic principles and part of the production has been Demeter certified since 2003. Today, enologist Hervé Jestin, known for his biodynamics / bioenergetics oversees the wines of the house and its near 30ha of vines, plus another 20+ha of organically farmed contract fruit.
Hervé prefers less liqueur de tirage, therefore fewer bubbles overall. The Rosé Extra Brut is labeled NV, but this bottle is from a single harvest (2021), and blends 93% Chardonnay (from Chouilly and Montgueux), 7% Pinot Noir (from Les Riceys), native fermented in stainless, with a small amount of the pinot noir fermenting in wood. This bottle rests for three years on lees before being disgorged with 2.5g/L, in September 2025. Pouring a spring salmon hue, this runs brisk along the palate with rhubarb, raspberry, tangerine, and subtle meringue on the core, trailing off with toast and citrus pith.
“Leclerc Briant's NV Rosé Extra-Brut offers up aromas of red berries, lemon oil, herbs and peony mingled with lovely smoky notes. Moderately weighted, tense and straight, it's vinous and lively, with bright acids and a mouthwatering, saline and lemon oil-inflected finish. It was crafted from Chardonnay from Mardeuil, Trépaille, Billy le Grand and Bisseuil, with the addition of 7% red wine. Drink 2024 - 2029.” - 91 points, Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate.

Bacchus
Bacchus is equal parts organic Montepulciano and Sangiovese, grown in mixed clay soils 300m on the Marche hills surrounding the towns of Offida and Acquaviva Picena, in Ascoli Piceno province.
This unoaked red is designed to be consumed in youth, with ample juicy ripe plum, blueberry and baking spice on the medium palate. Tannins are sticky, calling out for grilled sausages or lamb burgers.
"This is a blend of montepulciano and sangiovese made without any barrel works. It pours deep purple-ruby thanks to the montepulciano. The nose is quite lifted, grapy and mulchy with mulberry/blackberry with tarragon herbality. It is quite full bodied, dense and a touch sweet, but it works. Considerable energy, and lots of crusty montepulciano tannic grit. Very good length. Tasted Feb 2026.” - 88 points, David Lawrason, WineAlign.com

From Ragnaie Vigna Vecchia, this is their oldest vines of Sangiovese, planted at 600m. It was native fermented in concrete prior to spending 3 years in 37 hl Slavonian oak vats.
“This is an outstanding wine from Le Ragnaie. Showing unescapable mineral definition, the 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Ragnaie V. V. sees fruit sourced from the estate's oldest vines, which were planted in 1968 on sandstone soils (with quartz inclusions) at 600 meters above sea level. The bouquet is bright and fragrant, but the wine also has a salty or harder edge that gives it good runway to age and evolve. I love its elegantly built structure. Brunello di Montalcino Passo del Lume Spento
From Le Ragnaie Vigna del lume Spento, their highest vineyard at 621m, this Sangiovese was native fermented in concrete prior to spending 3 years in 25 hl Slavonian oak vats.
“There is a brown road sign just above this vineyard site that reads: "Passo del Lume Spento m. 621 s.l.m." The sign marks the highest point of the appellation, measured at 621 meters above sea level, and it's covered in colorful stickers from travelers who passed by. The Le Ragnaie 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Passo del Lume Spento is a very special wine that opens a whole conversation regarding elevation and cool-climate Sangiovese. Heavyweights Gaja and Marchesi Antinori have recently acquired vineyards in the same area. The area has sandstone soils with views that extend to the Tyrrhenian Sea on a clear day. The vines were planted in 2012. However, the key remains elevation and freshness. Passo del Lume Spento reveals an almost fragile bouquet of wild berry fruit and blue flowers. It also delivers the freshness and structure for cellar aging.” - 97 points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Brunello di Montalcino Fornace
This Sangiovese comes from 400m, which is the winery's low altitude vineyards. Dense and concentrated, though elegant, with black cherry, black raspberry ruling the plusher palate, shaped with long, fine and firm tannins, and finishing with a dusting of spice and ample salinity. This powerful wine is drinking beautifully now and with time ahead — certainly a different shape and form than their elevated vineyards, but the same family tree and intent.
“The 2020 Brunello Di Montalcino Fornace is a spectacular way to close out the wines of 2020 from Le Ragnaie. Aromatic of grenadine, sweet balsamic herbs, leather, and licorice candies, the palate really sets itself apart, with fine tannins, mouthwatering, salted, ripe orange citrus, iron-rich earth, and a clean, stony, driving finish. Persistent and long, it's going to need another couple of years in cellar. Drink 2027-2047.” - 97+ points, Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com, January 22, 2025
“This wine usually shows a more relaxed character compared to the other bottles in this series of single-vineyard wines from Le Ragnaie. The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Fornace draws its fruit from a vineyard located at 380 meters in elevation not too far from Mastrojanni. The site was once at the bottom of an ancient seabed, and there are round limestone rocks as a result. That theme of "roundness" is transferred to the palate, where the wine offers layers of plush and supple fruit. Like the others, it ages in large oak casks for 3.5 years and is bottled directly from the botte. Only 3,000 bottles were created. In a tasting of his cru wines, Riccardo Campinoti serves this wine last because it delivers a bigger sense of concentration and textural density (while remaining within the transparency of the house style).” - 96 points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Brunello di Montalcino Casanovina Montosoli
From Vigna Casanovina Montosoli, this Sangiovese was native fermented in concrete prior to spending 3 years in 32hL Slavonian oak vats.
“Pouring a bright red color, the 2020 Brunello Di Montalcino Casanovina Montosoli shows off a very pretty side of this vintage, with notes of wild strawberries, chili flake, dried earth, orange peel, and thyme. Medium-bodied, it's elegant and mineral-driven, with angular tannins, the most linear feel in the range, and an evenly tapering finish. It is not the most obvious wine in the range, but it may very well prove to be one of the best wines from Montosoli in 2020. Drink over 2027-2047.” - 97+ points, Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com, January 22, 2025
“The Le Ragnaie 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Casanovina Montosoli (with 4,400 bottles created) comes from a celebrated site on the north side of the appellation at 300 meters in elevation. Montosoli is characterized by very special shale galestro clay soils that are brittle and friable. These conditions result in extremely focused aromatic characteristics of wet stone, blue flower and blood orange. That note of violet or lavender is exceptional. The wine finishes with a salty note, and don't underestimate that firm tannic bite. Only eight Montalcino estates have access to fruit from Montosoli.” - 97 points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Le Ragnaie
Brunello di Montalcino 2020
Riccardo and Jennifer Campinoti purchased this Montalcino property with a mix of old vines and younger plantings and established Le Ragnaie in 2003. The organically-farmed estate is divided into three distinct parcels across 42 acres in Montalcino. These vines are the highest in Montalcino, some reaching above the DOCG mandated 1,960 feet above sea level. As one of the highest points in the region, it became famous for bird catchers, hence the traditional birdcatchers' net that graces the label (Ragnaie is Etruscan for spiderweb, reminiscent of the netting). This Sangiovese comes from vines up to 80 years in Ragnaie, Petroso, Loreto, Fornace, Cava vineyards, and was native fermented in concrete prior to spending 3 years in 25/32/37 hl Slavonian oak vats.
An alluring nose of crushed cherry, black raspberry leads to an equally intoxicating palate of perfumed red fruits, crunchy plums, roasted carrots, dried red florals, savoury herbs, and sea salts, with firm, grippy tannins pinning, and lofted acidity carrying through the saline finish. Beautifully finely textured throughout, this medium+ bodied wine is imperially graceful, drinking smartly now and with time to come.
“The nose places tart cherries above a foundation of damp soil, underbrush, old leather and coffee grinds. On the palate, cherries and raspberries ride a wave of citrus into a mocha finish, while polished but powerful tannins provide structure.” - 96 points, Danielle Callegari, Wine Enthusiast

Troncone Rosso
Montalcino has an altitude limit in Brunello, and not allowed to grow above 600m. This organically farmed sangiovese is grown from 620-655m altitude, hence it fell into the declassification of IGT Chianti Colli Senesi. In the 2014, the wine was too pale and wasn't even approved for that, so Riccardo Campinoti said BASTA and labelled the wines IGT Toscana Rosso. Troncone means stump, and was the nickname of Riccardo's grandfather. There is also a large stump in the sandstone, limestone and clay vineyard, giving this wine's name a double meaning. Ragnaie is the name of the vineyard, Etruscan for spiderweb, and reflecting the label and the netting that Etruscans would use to catch small birds. This younger vine sangiovese was native fermented and on skins for 2 weeks in concrete, before one year in older Slavonian oak casks.
Wild raspberry, crunchy cherry is seasoned with crushed stones and lit with tart acidity that sails this through a snappy, saline finish. Tannins are finely sticky, welcoming partnering with mushroom or lamb ragu.

Rosso di Montalcino
Unlike many Rosso di Montalcino that often are composed of the inferior barrels for Brunello, this is a site-specific bottling treated every step along the way like Riccardo's Brunello offerings. The Castelnuovo vineyard is situated in Castelnuovo dell'Abate on a steep hillside with Mastrojanni's Vigna Schiena d'Asino on one side and Poggio di Sotto on the other. After a long, cool natural fermentation in concrete, this is racked to 25-50L Slavonian vats where it rests quietly on lees for 24 months prior to bottling with no fining.
Fragrant and fresh with black cherries, balsamic, herbs and spices. Medium-bodied, it is round and smooth on the palate, to a lengthy, bitter cherry finish. Elegant now, it will continue to gain in complexity with a few years in the cellar.

Dialogo Tinto
Niepoort Vinhos
Diálogo Tinto
This youthful red may show a (Canadian themed!) comic on the label, but make no mistake, this is a serious wine, from one of the world's top winemakers, Dirk Niepoort. This is a blend of Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela from the Cima Corgo's schistous soils, and vines up to 40 years in age. This was native fermented in stainless, and aged in a mix of stainless and oak for 6 months.
Fresh and fragrant, with black raspberry, cherry, plum filling a juicy core. Wrapped with slight, sticky tannins, and buoyed by bright acidity, this friendly, smart red is primed for drinking now, all at a welcome 12.5%.
"Always such a satisfying wine, capturing the energy of Douro reds but making it fragrant, open and appealing at the same time. Expect lifted aromas of red plum/raspberry, violet, hot stone/granitic minerality and background oak spice. It is medium weight, juicy yet structured with the same minerality o the finish. Tannins are fairly soft but certainly present. Very well balanced. Tasted February 2026.” - 90 points, David Lawrason, WineAlign.com

Weingut Loimer Niederosterreich
Weingut Loimer
Niederösterreich Pinot Noir
From vineyards in Gumpoldskirchen and Langenlois, this biodynamic pinot was native fermented over 3 weeks, entirely whole bunch, before resting 1 year in 300L oak casks, plus 6 months in large oak, and then 4 months in stainless tank before bottling, without fining or filtration, and with minimal SO2.
Wild herbs, damp forest, and moss lead this medium bodied red, with a juicy core of raspberry and cherry wrapped with finely sticky tannins, hugging the sides to a stony, saline, medicinal cherry finish. A lovely pure look at cool climate Pinot.

Blanville Reserve Réserve
Blanville
Chardonnay Réserve
Château Haut-Blanville is a family-owned Languedoc wine estate that was founded in 1997 by Béatrice & Bernard Nivollet. Their 70 ha of vineyards extend across The Grés de Montpellier AOP, stretching from the Hérault middle valley to the Vidourle, and from the Mediterranean in the south to the Pic Saint-Loup in the north. Wines are produced naturally, without the use of any additions except a minimal amount of sulphur upon bottling. From stony clay-limestone soils, this chardonnay blends in roussanne for additional fragrance and body.
White peach, pear custard, pear skin, and white grapefruit fill the juicy, medium palate, with a lingering stony spice and bitter almond twist to close. Friendly and accessible now.

Cabernet Franc Massale Selection
This family business was founded in 1855 by Louis Carteyron and his son Jacques. In 2022, Antoine and his brother Etienne became the sixth generation to run the estate, which has grown to 50 sustainably farmed hectares. This red comes from two parcels on deep gravels and clay limestone soils, with vines from a massale selection collected from a century-old vineyard in Pomerol. These old vines carry the authentic genetics and perfumed aromas of Cabernet Franc that clones cannot. The wine was fermented at low temperature in stainless tanks over 15 days, and aged in concrete with limited racking to preserve fruitiness.
Perfumed violets, wild blueberries, juicy boysenberry is threaded with crushed stones and pink peppercorn, housed with fine, long, lightly grippy tannins. Light on its feet, but with structure to partner to roast pork or duck. A charmer.
“The 2019 Cabernet Franc Massale has a floral bouquet evoking aromas of violet, dark berries and smoke intertwined with a delicate reduction note. Medium to full-bodied, layered and tense, it’s juicy with a complete profile. A fine value, it’s well worth seeking out. Drink 2023-2030.” – 91 points, Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate

Les Cailloux
This family business was founded in 1855 by Louis Carteyron and his son Jacques. In 2022, Antoine and his brother Etienne became the sixth generation to run the estate, which has grown to 50 sustainably farmed hectares. This Merlot comes from 40 year old vines planted on large rounded pebbles 50cm in depth, originating from Quaternary glacial deposits, over a slab of clay. The geological profile of this 2ha plot is atypical for the region. Cold pre-fermentation maceration for 2 days was followed by a fermentation over 25 days in tanks, with gentle extraction through low pressure pump overs. This was then racked in December for 12 months of ageing in 400L French oak barrels (Allier and Vosges). The wine was then further aged for 18 months in concrete tanks before bottling.
Dusky black plum, wild blackberry, cassis jam is threaded with crushed stones and thorns, and gripped with long, finely textured tannins through a stony finish. Nice freshness in this structured, serious merlot, drinking now and with time ahead.
"Aromas of ripe blackberries, toasted walnuts, sweet spices and pine cones. Medium-bodied and round-textured with sleek, polished tannins. Attractive, toasty finish. Merlot. Drink or hold.” - 90 points, James Suckling

Cabanes Blanc
This family business was founded in 1855 by Louis Carteyron and his son Jacques. In 2022, Antoine and his brother Etienne became the sixth generation to run the estate, which has grown to 50 sustainably farmed hectares. This blend of 40% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Sauvignon Gris, 30% Sémillon was grown on a clay hillside over limestone. Part of the Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris were co-planted, and thus co-fermented. All was gently pressed and cold settled with minimal racking, native fermented over 20 days in a mix of concrete eggs, diamond shaped concrete tank, stainless, and oak barrels (228L & 400L). It was then matured for 7 months on fine lees with regular bâtonnage.
Powerful stony sauvignon blanc is met with waxy sémillon here, yielding a creamy, textural white with lemon verbena, green apple, acacia blossoms, and stony spice which lingers on the humming limestone kissed finish. Smart, modern Bx blanc.

Donatella Cinelli Colombini
Donatella Cinelli Colombini
Rosso di Montalcino
This organic Sangiovese comes from three vineyards at Casato Prime Donne, situated on the cool northern area of Montalcino at about 225m, rooted in clays and sands. This was native fermented in stainless before aging 6 months in large tonneaux.
Fragrant and ripe cherry, kirsch is worked with worn leather and cedar. Tannins are sinewy, finishing with baking spice. One of the meatier, more muscular Rosso di Montalcinos.
“The 2022 is a Rosso the team and also their partners truly believe in, this because it is “the business card used to present ourselves,” says Violante Gardini Cinelli Colombini. A Rosso of new identity, completeness, comfortable, elegant and “with many impressions inside,” adds Export Manager Irene Lesti. Short stay in wood, mild tannins, a crunchy example with just a touch of the cellar. Balanced and fulsome with great satisfaction guaranteed for any time, day or occasion. Drink 2024-2027.
