MIXED CASE : EUROPEAN TOUR 6

Azores Wine Company Arinto dos Açores 2024, Pico, Azores, Portugal. $66
Arinto dos Açores is a unique grape native to the Azores, unrelated to mainland Portugal's Arinto. These vines are planted in the rock cracks at the foothills of the volcanic mountain, almost touching the ocean. The vineyards are protected from the strong salty marine breezes by rock walls known as currais. This was native fermented in horizontal stainless barrels, where it remained on lees for 8 months. White grapefruit pith and peel, crunchy green apple is lit with energy and lingering long with salinity. What a wine of place.

Pascal Clément Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Planchots 2021, Bourgogne, France. $77
Pascal Clément, well known for his exceptional white wines, loves using older foudre for his whites, as he feels it brings out the saltiness in the wine. Pascal employs MLF but never bâtonnage on his wines, leaving them on full lees in barrels after pressing. Les Planchots is located at the entrance to the Savigny-lès-Beaune valley, close to the national highway. The Rhoin River flows close to the plot. Planchot is the Burgundian derivative of Planche (from the late Latin Planca). Since the Middle Ages, the word Planche has been used to describe a footbridge, a small bridge made of planks allowing people and animals to cross on foot. This organic estate wine was native fermented and rested in older wood for 8 months. It opens with ample toasty, buttered popcorn and lemon curd, kissed with reduction and loaded with flake salts. Ripe green apple, lemon peel, and toast fill out the rest of this powerful, driven wine, more a Meursault in style than a typical Savigny-les-Beaune. Certainly age worthy.

Artemis Karamolegos Winery Kouloura 2024, Santorini, Greece. $88
Artemis Karamolegos is one of the most dynamic wineries on the unique island of Santorini. Led by his grandfather, who started making wine and cultivating vines as a hobby in the 1950s, Artemis founded the winery in 2004. They own just over 3ha of vineyards (some over 100 years old) across Pyrgos, Megalorchori, Exo Gonia, Akrotiri and Fira and have long-term contracts to farm another 5 hectares. This comes from vines averaging 80 years and blends 90% Assyrtiko and 10% blend of Athiri / Aidani. This was fermented and aged in stainless on lees for seven months. Lemon, green apple, green fig, white grapefruit sails through the bright palate, lit with marine salinity. Lovely now, and with time ahead.

Loimer Pinot Noir 2023, Niederösterreich, Austria. $42
From vineyards in Gumpoldskirchen and Langenlois, this biodynamic Pinot was native fermented over 3 weeks, entirely whole bunch, before resting 1 year in 300L oak casks, plus 6 months in large oak, and then 4 months in stainless tank before bottling, without fining or filtration, and with minimal SO2. Wild herbs, damp forest, and moss lead this medium bodied red, with a juicy core of raspberry and cherry wrapped with finely sticky tannins, hugging the sides to a stony, saline, medicinal cherry finish. A lovely pure look at cool climate Pinot.

Le Ragnaie Rosso di Montalcino 2022, Toscana, Italy. $65
Unlike many Rosso di Montalcino that often are composed of the inferior barrels for Brunello, this is a site-specific bottling treated every step along the way like Riccardo's Brunello offerings. The Castelnuovo vineyard is situated in Castelnuovo dell'Abate on a steep hillside with Mastrojanni's Vigna Schiena d'Asino on one side and Poggio di Sotto on the other. After a long, cool natural fermentation in concrete, this is racked to 25-50L Slavonian vats where it rests quietly on lees for 24 months prior to bottling with no fining. Fragrant and fresh with black cherries, balsamic, herbs and spices. Medium-bodied, it is round and smooth on the palate, to a lengthy, bitter cherry finish. Elegant now, it will continue to gain in complexity with a few years in the cellar. 

Suertes del Marqués La Solana 2023, Valle de la Oratova, Tenerife, Spain. $45
La Solana is a single 1.5 hectare vineyard in northern Tenerife, between 350-450m and on loamy clay atop volcanic soils. This is from a single plot of 100+ year old Listán Negro vines, in the traditional cordón trenzado training system.  After a native ferment in concrete, with 100% whole cluster, this aged 11 months in 500L neutral French wood before being bottled unfiltered. Pink peppercorn, scrubby florals, wild raspberry waft through this lighter red, with ample marine salinity and balsam acidity to lift, and downy / sticky tannins to frame, finishing with lingering salinity. Most certainly a volcanic island wine, showing place.

MIXED CASE : GROWER CHAMPAGNE

Champagne Émile Leclère Brut Nature NV. $72
Champagne Émile Leclère was founded in 1832, and is today run by 5th generation siblings Vincent and Marie. Based in Mardeuil, near Épernay, they own 12 hectares of vineyards, and 30% of their holdings are from the far west of the Vallée de la Marne, in Château-Thierry. This blend is the same as their Brut Reserve (60% Meunier, 40% Chardonnay), though with zero dosage, and this bottling is 63% from 2022, with the remaining from 2020, 2019, and 2018. It is fermented in stainless, and spent 30 months sur lattes prior to disgorge in December 2025. The Meunier is at the fore, with baked red apple, anise, and perfumed florals, with the lemony drive of Chardonnay lingering on the stony finish. A friendly Brut Nature for enjoying now.

Champagne Pierre Gimonnet & Fils Rosé de Blancs 1er Cru Brut NV. $106
Didier, part of the third generation of the Gimonnet family, oversees the winemaking of their family winery, based in Cuis, in the heart of the Côtes de Blancs. This wine, like all of their Chardonnay-centric wines, is laser focused. According to Didier, he wants a rosé that tastes like a blanc de blancs with colour. "Powerful Chardonnay." It certainly succeeds. The current bottle is from 2022 vintage (no reserves) and sources fruit from Chouilly, Cramant, Oger, Cuis, and Vertus, adding 6% Bouzy still Pinot Noir. It was disgorged in June 2025, with under 5 g/L. Singing with blood orange, pink grapefruit, subtle crushed florals, and Rainier cherry across a brisk, green apple and bright lemon core, this streaks like an arrow through a chalky finish. Beautiful energy here in this supremely food-friendly wine.

Champagne Marie Copinet Nos Pas Dans… La Terre Complantée Brut Nature NV. $103
Marie-Laure Copinet and her winemaker husband Alexandre Kowal have taken over her family's estate, founded by her father Jacques in 1975. Before then, the Copinets were selling their fruit to Moet, but Jacques' work at Taittinger led him to decide to create their own grower champagne (RM) estate. They are based in the tiny Champagne village of Montgenost (population 140) in the Côtes des Sézanne, and they own 9 hectares of vineyards in Côtes des Sézanne, Côtes des Bar, and Vallée de la Marne, producing only 5,500 cases annually, and began organic conversion in 2018. Nos pas dans... is a series of soil / grape studies put out by Marie Copinet. Complantée is a field blend of Pinot Noir and Meunier from the plot of La Charbonnière, in the village of Brouillet, situated in the little-known Vallée de l'Ardre, east of Reims. The soils are dark and crumbly, as seen on the label. It was native fermented and vinified in large oak (60%) and stainless, and is from the 2019 vintage. It remained sur lattes until November 2025, when it was disgorged with 0 dosage. Burnished cherry, wild raspberry, lemon peel and pith is textured with chalk dust, and centred on a candied lemon meringue core. There's alluring and moreish salinity woven throughout this wine, propelling it through a lengthy textured finish. Such balance and poise here, in a seamless wine of place. Special.

34 Ancestral Vines. $99
This comes from very old Assyrtiko vines (some of the oldest on the island), partially native fermented (10% in oak), where it remains for 8 months on lees. Green veg, lemon verbena, white asparagus, lemon peel streaks across the palate, with ample buzzy stony underlay through the salty, marine finish. Electric. Drinking beautifully now, and with time ahead.

"The Artemis Karamolegos Winery 2024 Santorini Assyrtiko Ancestral Vines 34 shows a more accessible side of Assyrtiko without sacrificing the variety's essential structure. Aromas of pie crust, lemon cream and Chantilly lead to notes of apricot skin, nectarine and stony minerality. A subtle oily note on the finish adds texture and breadth, giving the wine a richer profile than many young Santorini Assyrtikos. Despite this extra weight, the palate remains fresh, angular and complex. The mineral character is more stone-driven than overtly saline, making this a particularly versatile food wine, especially with grilled shrimp and shellfish. Produced in 9,000 bottles from century-old vines rooted in Santorini's volcanic soils, the wine ages on its lees for 12 months. Fruit from five villages (Pyrgos, Megalochori, Exo Gonia, Akrotiri and Fira) is used in the blend. The number 34 references the 34 centuries of winemaking history on Santorini. This comes from vines averaging 80 years and blends 90% Assyrtiko and 10% blend of Athiri / Aidani. This was fermented and aged in stainless on lees for seven months. "The Artemis Karamolegos Winery 2024 Santorini Kouloura offers aromas of elderflower, chamomile, mountain herbs and candied lemon drop framed by a distinctly chalky mineral character reminiscent of a freshly erased classroom chalkboard. Made from 90% Assyrtiko with 10% Athiri and Aidani, the wine is fresh, linear and nicely focused. However, it is less complex than the estate's upper-tier bottlings and feels somewhat lean on the finish, showing less depth and persistence than its 14% alcohol might suggest. Produced in 14,000 bottles from old vines averaging 80 years of age, this is a straightforward and accessible introduction to the Karamolegos style. First released under the "Kouloura" name in 2023 and replacing the entry-level Santorini bottling, the wine takes its identity from the traditional basket-trained vines that have become one of Santorini's most enduring viticultural symbols. Limonello Ricetta Originale. $61 / 700mL
The lemons for Carta Limonello (purposely missing the 'C') are grown in the organic garden on the Carta estate. They are picked by hand early in the morning, washed and then infused with alcohol over a period of 20-30 days. The liqueur shows powerful ripe lemon fruit, lemon oil and lemon blossoms across the juicy palate, easily braced with bright acidity and a fresh finish. Silvio Carta uses 1.1kg of WHOLE organic lemons per litre of alcohol to make this very special liqueur. Enjoy as a digestive straight from the freezer, or over ice and tonic water, and a fresh basil leaf.

Vermouth di Sardegna Bianco Servito Vermouth. $53
This Vermouth is a blend of young Vernaccia IGT wine infused with elicriso, Desoleana sage, myrtle, and senecio serpens (flowers of a Mediterranean succulent). Heady green herbs, wild orange, potent mint, and ripe quince, the intense, silken, streaming palate is laced with Mediterranean salts and eucalyptus over an expansive base of plush vanilla stone fruit. Enjoy as an aperitif over ice with a slice of lime, as a spritz (with Prosecco added), or in a White Negroni.

Réserve Extra Brut NV. $103
This flagship NV is entirely 2021 fruit, and a blend of 42% Pinot Noir, 33% Chardonnay, and 25% Meunier, native fermented and rested 10 months before heading to bottle unfined and unfiltered. This was disgorged in September 2025 with 4.5 g/L. Rainier cherry, crunchy green and red apple, lemon peel and pith skips along the palate, held with a taut line of acidity, and based on a bed of chalk. Quite smart, and a great food partner. 

Extra Brut Rosé NV. $124
Hervé prefers less liqueur de tirage, therefore fewer bubbles overall. The Rosé Extra Brut is labeled NV, but this bottle is from a single harvest (2021), and blends 93% Chardonnay (from Chouilly and Montgueux), 7% Pinot Noir (from Les Riceys), native fermented in stainless, with a small amount of the Pinot Noir fermenting in wood. This bottle rests for three years on lees before being disgorged with 2.5g/L, in September 2025. Pouring a spring salmon hue, this runs brisk along the palate with rhubarb, raspberry, tangerine, and subtle meringue on the core, trailing off with toast and citrus pith.

7 Fuentes 2021, DO Valle de la Orotava, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. $31
100+ year old ungrafted and organic Listán Negro is splashed with 10% Castellana Negra in this singular wine, showcasing Tenerife's volcanic soils and vineyard altitude up to 750m. Suertes del Marqués considers this their 'village wine', and an introduction to their range, sourcing grapes from 30 different vineyards. After a native ferment in concrete (20% whole clusters) this rested 11 months in concrete and neutral French oak, before an 8 month stint in stainless. Unlike older vintages of 7 Fuentes, this barely opens with any reduction at all, but rather fragrant cherry, wild raspberry, scrubby resinous herbs, and ample cracked peppercorn, all laced and lofted with pink grapefruit acidity. Tannins are fine and sticky, taking this marine red to a lingering saline finish. Super smart, and great energy.

2 x Langhe Nebbiolo 2024. $40
This Langhe Nebbiolo spent 8 months in large oak casks. Fragrant raspberry, cherry, dried florals is alluringly seasoned with a fragrant spice box, and framed with long, finely grippy / sticky tannins to a peppery finish. As with all their wines, there's a great freshness, yet stoic reserve here. Drinking now, and with time ahead. 

2 x Barbera d’Asti Bricco Gallinetta 2024. $33
This single vineyard (Bricco Gallinetta) Barbera, from sandy soils, was vinified in stainless. Tart and bright, with wild cherry, raspberry, and morello plum woven through the medium palate, with flocked tannins hugging the sides, and salinity lingering on the lightly warming finish. Though 14%, this has fantastic freshness on the palate. A super smart Asti.

1 x Barbaresco 2020. $74
This spent 2 years in older wood, bottled without filtration, and spent 1 year in bottle prior to release. Alluring wild cherry, wildflowers, fine espresso, ferrous dust, and bergamot teem along the fuller palate, with long, finely grippy tannins framing to a medicinal kirsch scented finish. As with all their wines, ample freshness here, belying its 14.5% and the generous 2020 vintage. Drinking now, beautifully and amply.

"Elegant and precise, the Cantina del Pino 2020 Barbaresco brings lots of freshness and a charming view of young Nebbiolo fruit. This vintage tends to be more accessible overall, but you are nonetheless awarded with the subtle nuances and complexity that characterize this variety. There is tart cassis, violet and earthy licorice root. This is a 12,000-bottle release. Drink 2026-2039.”  93 points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

1 x Barbaresco 2021. $74
This spent 2 years in older wood, bottled without filtration, and spent 1 year in bottle prior to release. Kirsch, balsam, and scrubby herbs light up the nose and carry through the medium bodied palate, woven with wild cherry, wild raspberry, plum, scrubby herbs and cracked white pepper. Tannins are ample and sticky, but well integrated into the fruit. Great energy and form now, and with time ahead. Give this time to open in the glass.

"The Cantina del Pino 2021 Barbaresco (with 12,000 bottles made) is perfumed and nuanced with pretty fruit tones of cassis and dried cherry and an equally important floral side with rose potpourri and iris root. The wine starts fermentation in both stainless steel and oak vats, and it matures in large oak casks for 24 months before going into bottle. It glides over the palate with polished tannins and a lean to mid-weight mouthfeel. I'd give this vintage a little more bottle age to allow it to flesh out further. Drink 2026-2040.” 94 points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Domaine Vendange Crémant de Savoie Grande Réserve NV, Savoie, France. $36
Located in Combe de Savoie, on the foothills of the Massif des Bauges, Domaine Vendange stretches over 10 organically farmed hectares, on south facing slopes of youthful glacial till / limestone scree. The Vendange family has been involved with the viticulture and agronomic industries for many years, and are one of the largest vine nurseries in the region. After studying viticulture and oenology in Beaune, Benjamin Vendange returned in 2015 to the family property. With his partner Diane Gounel, oenologist from Languedoc-Roussillon, the step was taken to start their own estate with the family’s holdings. This crémant blends Jacquère (45%), Altesse (30%), Chardonnay (25%) of 25 year old vines, with vinification in stainless over 9 months with bâtonnage, prior to a secondary ferment in bottle for a minimum of one year on lees. Crisp and dry, with toasted biscuit, red apple, and pithy lemon, licked with anise, and lined with fine lees that linger on the saline finish. Really smart Crémant, and great value too.

Perlage Zharpí Prosecco Brut NV, DOC Prosecco Treviso, Veneto, Italy. $22
Perlage is one of Italy’s first organic sparkling wineries. In the local dialect, zharpì is a term transcribed as vine pruning, reflecting this wine’s connection to the vineyard and those who work the vines. This Glera is bright and shining with pear blossoms, white peach, and tangerine, finishing crisp and thankfully dry. A very smart and modern take.

Fanti Soralisa Bianco 2024, Toscana, Italy. $28
The Tenuta Fanti estate has belonged to the Fanti family since the beginning of the eighteenth century. It extends across 300 hectares in Toscana, 52 hectares of which are specialized certified sustainable vineyards, 60 hectares are olive orchards with 8,500 olive trees, 80 hectares are used for seed plots, and 70 hectares are forests. In the early 1970s, Filippo Fanti became leader of the company, and refocused its direction towards high quality, starting with the soils. Filippo’s 40+ years of experience as wine-grower was complemented by the energy and determination of his winemaker daughter Elisa, who joined the family company in 2007, and more recently by second daughter Elena. This blend of 45% Vermentino, 45% Viognier, 5% Malvasia Toscana and 5% Trebbiano Toscano was from clay soils around 210-370m, and vines ranging from 10-30 years. It was fermented and rested in stainless on lees until the following spring. Fragrant yellow fruits are met with fresh green herbs and crushed white peppercorns in this intriguing blend, one that buzzes along the palate to a snappy tangerine twist. Quite smart, and certainly unique, and a lovely choice for grilled calamari or fritto misto di verdure.

Aphros Loureiro 2023, DOC Vinho Verde, Portugal. $30
Vasco Croft is one of the pioneering biodynamic vintners in Portugal, and Aphros is his personal project. From Vinho Verde's Lima subregion, this Loureiro spent time on skins before pressing into stainless for native fermentation (no MLF) and a few months ageing on lees (no bâtonnage) before filtration and bottling. Very lean and light (10.5%) with crunchy green apple, Asian pear, green spring veg streaking across a slight, saline frame, finishing with a white grapefruit twist. Enjoy this snappy little white with fish / veg tapas. 

J.M. Raffault Chinon Rouge Les Picasses 2020, AOC Chinon, Loire, France. $27
Jean-Maurice Raffault and Rodolphe Raffault’s family began cultivating vines in Chinon 14 generations ago, when their ancestor, Mathurin Bottreau, bought his first parcel of vines in 1693. Today, Domaine Jean-Maurice Raffault owns 50 organically farmed hectares of vines in 7 communes. This certified organic Cabernet Franc is from the Les Picasses lieu dit, atop a plateau overlooking the Vienne, the windiness of the site reflected in the windmill on the label. Vines have been planted here since the 15th century. Soils here are stony limestone and clay. After destemming and a native ferment, with one month skin contact, this moves to barriques for MLF and aging 12 months on fine lees. Super perfumed, with ample fragrant plums, wild blackberry, thorns, and crushed florals on a medium palate, gripped with ample firm, gritty tannins, and finishing with a lingering peppery note. Lovely lift and freshness, encouraging partnering this with food (think grilled sausages).

Niepoort Vertente Tinto 2021, DOC Douro, Portugal. $34
If one had to pick the winemaker that has had the greatest impact on not only Douro wines, but Portuguese wines in general, it would be Dirk Niepoort. Easily one of the world’s top winemakers, Dirk’s insight extends beyond soils, grapes and blends, and into humans, predicting and driving the wines that today’s wine lovers, of all ages and backgrounds, are interested in drinking. Vertente means aspect or hillside, well named for the vineyards of the Douro. 50 to 80 year old vines are sourced from all of the vineyards the family works with, with a traditional blend of several grape varieties predominantly based on Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Rufete, and Tinta Amarela. After a native ferment in stainless, this was aged in French oak for 22 months. Fragrant rockrose, scrubby herbs, wild blackberries, and black plum flood a juicy palate, with a fine, schistous, structural brace of tannins that guide this 13% red to a lingering stony finish. Still so much energy in this wine, and time ahead.

NAT'Cool! Branco 2024, Vinho Verde, Portugal. $26 / 1L  
This pét-nat ish Vinho Verde, comes from the sub-region of Lousada, and is a mix of Azal, Arinto, Avesso, Trajadura, and Loureiro, and vines 25-30 years. After beginning ferment in stainless, it was bottled with a few grams RS, so it could continue to percolate in the bottle, affording it a gentle spritz. A lightly hazy straw hue, this streams meadow grass, green and yellow apple, gooseberry across the slight 11% palate, finishing with a grapefruit twist. Fun and fresh, as intended. 

NAT'Cool! Tinto 2025, Bairrada, Portugal. $26 / 1L
This lighter, shining red is 40-100 year old Baga vines from the limestone laced, clay soils of Bairrada. This was native fermented and aged in stainless, to preserve the purity of fruit. A lighter crimson hue, this charms with crushed florals, wild strawberry, raspberry, and scrubby herbs, with whisper fine tannins pinning in the sides, and an easy acidity buoying this through the stony finish. Smashable.

Vignoble du Rêveur Singulier 2021, Alsace, France. $50
Vignoble du Reveur is the project of Mathieu Deiss (who still makes wines for his father's This dry Alsatian orange is a carbonic maceration coferment of Riesling and Pinot Gris, with 10 days on skins prior to a native ferment in large oak barrels, without any additions. The wine aged for one year on fine lees prior to bottling with a very low level of sulfites. Pouring a hazy, deeper orange gold hue, this medium+ orange floods the textural palate with bergamot, pear skin, grapefruit, exotic spices, beeswax, gently framed with buzzy oolong tea tannins. Very complete, this is a stunner.

Le Ragnaie Vino Bianco 2021, IGT Toscana, Italy. $48
From the highest planted vineyards in Montalcino, this skin contact wine blends the area's traditional white grapes in a 50/50 Trebbiano and Malvasia mix. After a native ferment in stainless for 10 days on skins, this moved into one new 500L French oak barrel for 9 months before bottling unfined, with minimum sulphur. Pouring a glowing light gold hue, this shimmers along the medium palate with tight apricot, bergamot, elderflower, and ample mineral salts. The texture is fine, and acidity is subtle but shining.

Craven Pinot Gris 2023, WO Stellenbosch, South Africa. $37
From Stellenbosch's Newlands Vineyard and its heavy iron-rich koffeklip soils, these pinot gris vines are 16 years old, facing east. It's rare enough to find PG in ZA, and unheard of to find one as memorable as this. After destemming, this had 6-7 days skin contact (until it goes dry) before being pressed and racked into concrete where it remained for 9 months. More a light red than a rosé even, this textural PG teems with smoked stone, tea leaves, bergamot and roiboos, cored with ripe pear, and lingering with flake salts.

Hasjzan Neumann NATURAL Grüner Veltliner 2022, Wien, Austria. $25
NATURAL is Fritz Wieninger's experimental range of wines, still biodynamic, as is his family's Weingut Wieninger. This is the only NATURAL wine done in stainless, and here it spends 3.5 months on skins prior to bottling without fining, filtration, or sulphur. This Grüner Veltliner comes from an old vineyard in Ried Gabrissen on Vienna's Bisamberg, a sunny south-facing location on loess, with high lime content and a prominent gravel band in the higher part of the vineyard. Bright and tight with lime, white grapefruit, tangerine along a taut, buzzy, and saline laced palate. Shining acidity keeps this lofted through a long finish. Very pure.

Olivier Coste Orange Star 2023, Languedoc, France. $23
As you can assume from the name, and the glowing orange hue, Orange Star is an organic skin contact blend of 90% Muscat à Petits Grains and 10% Grenache Gris from their Faugères estate, with 7 days’ maceration before blending and a 6 month stint in stainless. Tight and zippy, with grapefruit, Asian pear and pear blossom before a pithy finish

FitaPreta a Laranja Mecânica NV, Alentejo, Portugal. $29
This is Antonio Maçanita's Clockwork Orange. Arinto, Roupeiro, Verdelho, Antão Vaz, Alincante Branco, Trincadeira-das-Pratas, Fernão Pires make up the Alentejo coferment blend, from various granite-soiled vineyards and vines 15-50 years old. After the first whole bunch pressing, 10-15% of the remaining juice macerated on the skins for a week, and then was pressed again and reunited with the whole, where it native fermented. It remained in stainless on lees until it was bottled, unfiltered, the following fall. Sharpened apricot, Asian pear, anise, and tangerine skeet across the lightly textural palate, livened with a buzzy granitic grip. There's a lovely flow to this angular wine, trailing off with a saline wash.

Featuring a lightened skeletal body milled from a solid bar of pure Titanium, the P-Type Titanium X is in a category of its own.

Titanium is corrosion resistant and has the highest strength to weight ratio of all the metals which means it's the perfect material for making one of the world’s finest professional wine keys. Weighing in at 2.29 ounces (65 grams), the Titanium model is around 35% lighter when compared with the P-Type Pro, and Pro X models which both use stainless steel.

Once machined, the titanium body is put through a series of polishing and texturing processes to remove any sharp edges and give a nice overall texture and finish. In the hand, it has a real warmth and grippy feel which is unique to titanium.

Superb weight and balance give a great sense of confidence when removing the most challenging of corks, and the silky action of the blade and helix will be a constant reminder of the exacting standards to which this professional tool has been made. 

The foil blade is precision machined from solid 440C knife stainless and hardened to 60 Rockwell C scale (HRC60) which is a universal standard for all chef-quality knives. Construction is in a heavy-duty Italian leather which has been mould formed to match the Code38s profile. The moulding process involves wetting and blocking out the shape in several stages – quite an elaborate and time-consuming process – but the result is exactly what I was looking for and allows the Code38 to be retrieved and returned quickly without any catching or dragging.

Created for the complexity and refinement of charming, focused white wines. The contour of the bowl will highlight the layers and minerality of the wine. This glass will also bring out the more elegant notes in medium-bodied wine that does not have overly-apparent barrique development.
